I'll play.

Blackvue DR500GW 1080P HD
Hardwired to Power Magic Pro

I know what you mean about bad drivers. I'm not sure why my picture is rotated by 90" when it's really not. You get the picture...

^odd.

the black vues work better for dash cams.
unless you just want to film the road....and you will get wind noise.
and heaven forbids if you forget to take it off one day; Houston thieves will snatch it right up

I just want to try it for a "road trip" just for fun. But it would really be great for the next time I take the Si out for Auto X.

I really needed a dash cam on my TSX last week.

I was following behind a city garbage truck on the hwy and debris fell out the back of the truck. It put a small chip in my windshield, 5-8 strikes on my front end that scratched the 3M clear bra, and it put a small pin hole in my A/C condenser in front of my radiator. I had the condenser repaired at Acura for $900. I have a claim with the city pending; but, video would be nice to confirm my story with the city legal department.

I have a GoPro2 as well. It's not as simple to utilize as an everyday dashcam. I have extended battery packs that could be used for up to 4 hours before changing, don't have the wifi option (I believe this cancels the added battery pack), and can leave you wondering if the camera's still on (or not).

Since the Blackvue is hardwired, removing it (or leaving it on) is a breeze. I can watch videos live via wifi and monitor within 20 ft range and the power will stay on until the car battery drops below a specified voltage.

Very interested.. been looking into the cameras but not sure about installation. Any chance k23a1 or russionDude, that you could do a write-up on how you hard-wire these? Where to connect, how to run them discreetly, etc.

Currently I'm using a poor-man setup--friction mount sitting on the dash for my android and Dailyroads Voyager. Something permanently installed would be much nicer.

2011 RDX Tech,
Custom dog barrier in the works.

I bought this one
http://www.amazon.com/DashBoard-Camera-Vehicle-Accident-Recorder/dp/B0067XVNTG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1365034456&sr=8-2&keywords=dash+cam http://www.amazon.com/DashBoard-Camera-Vehicle-Accident-Recorder/dp/B0067XVNTG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1365034456&sr=8-2&keywords=dash+cam

Most of them are cheaply made no name cameras. Cheap ones can cost from 25-50$ Blackvue will cost more 100$+.
It has a battery, but also can run from car charger. I moved wire around windshield to make it less obvious. video quality average, not your true HD -- but good enough if you are involved in the accident.
Camera starts recording automatically when car is started, and stops recording when I turn it off.

I have two Finevue CR-500HDs from blackboxmycar.com waiting to be installed. Good idea to have them on any car. I think I paid $275 each during a GB over at mbworld.

I saw this one that looked pretty interesting for $270. It records every thing on a 16GB card, has 2 cameras (forward and cabin) that records at the same time, IR lights for inside cabin recording, and it logs GPS data of every frame.

There are so many liars out there now where it comes to driving. Just one accident that isnt forced to go 50/50 because some liar decides that he doesnt want to payfor an accident that they caused (With no witness or even a witness that magically appears on their behalf) will be well worth it. And especially with all the insurance scams going around lately with people intentionally causing accidents (Such as overtaking then immediately slamming on the brakes) rear diver would be considered at fault without any witnesses or evidence and another scumbag would get away with it..

I bought mine to act as a "co-witness" in case of an accident. It is well worth it for that alone.

I've looked at a lot of generic cameras that largely flood out of China, as well as the GoPro and several other brands.

Been looking at this nice and cheerful ones -

Anyone got one? or if any reliable ebay/amazon recommended?
