Hi guys. We are going to take the RDX cross country. I was thinking about getting the cooler bag. I called the local dealer and they didnt know anything about it--does anyone have one or have good information on it ?
I mainly would like to know how well it works and how exactly it gets/stays cool. Is it powered ? and does it take up the entire center console. Thanks in advance for any replies.

 

A few ziplock bags full of ice would be the best thing, cost effective too. Just make sure they don't leak.

 

i know it is an accessory, and have been curious to see it in action. i would like to see also if anyone had this installed and their opinion.

 

I think it does take up the entire console, but maybe not the bottom compartments. It is not powered. It is just an insulated bag. I got one with my vehicle in sept 06, and I have not used it once.

I don't know about a cross country trip, but I would think it would only keep a cold drink cold for a few hours tops depending on how much ice or cold paks you put in it.

Since it's well insulated, you can put ice in it to keep it extermely cold, without condensation on the exterior of the cooler, or leakage. The ice eventually melts, but since its an insulated bag, it should be better than the ambient temperature heating your drinks. Plus, it elminates spills and sticky containers if it's contained inside the cooler, niether does it stink up your center space if you left a tuna sandwhich inside.

I was ready to get one, but I was afraid I won't use it. There's an ashtray for sale on ebay that sits on your cup holder that can be used as a coin cup, since the little compartment sucks.

I bought one of the bags prior to a road trip from my dealer. It does fill up most of the console. It's like any insulated cooler, it will keep things cold for about 7 hours depending on how much ice you put in. We had water and fruit and stuff and it kept things cold. It's nice to have things handy. It doesn't sweat and has a strap for over the shoulder carring.

 

I just purchased the insulator bag and cup holder, ashtray. There are times where I tend to bring bottled water from the fridge to go on long trips, so I may use it. Plus, I can use it on my other car.

The ashtray will be used as a coin cup.

I am on the road four days a week and love the cooler bag. If you are going to use it on a regular basis, then it's worth it.
