Code P2647

I was driving today and out of nowhere the entire dash lit up. The check emissions light, SH-AWD and VSA all came on and the car was instantly in limp mode. I took it to a shop and they said the code was the P2647 and is the rocker arm actuator. From what i have been reading its just the oil pressure switch. I have about 136k on my RDX and it has never had an issue. I found the part but i have not been able to figure out where the switch is located. Has anybody else had this issue? also can anybody help out and let me know where this thing is so i can avoid a trip to the dealership for a 50 dollar part.

Hello,

I just had the same P2647 code pop up on my 07 Acura rdx with 142,000 miles. Would love some more info on how you fixed as the last time I went to a mechanic for this and they told me they didn’t work on my kind of engine and that the rocker arm was hard to get to but if it’s just a $20 sensor I can replace myself I’d like to start there. Thanks!

If the problem is the VTEC rocker arm valve oil pressure switch it shouldn't be too difficult to replace. The VTEC valve assembly is behind the engine valve cover, right side, above the exhaust manifold, you'll see two connectors, one green and one grey. The grey connector is closest to the intercooler and valve cover and this is the oil pressure switch/sensor. If it's like my RDX the tab to release the grey connector is between the valve cover and connector and there's not much room. I used a flat head screwdriver and rotated the flat head it to press the tab inward towards the connector, which will release the connector. Once the connector is off I think you'll need a 15/16" deep socket for the oil pressure switch. Unscrew the sensor to replace and it's a good idea to replace the o-ring too. The green connector is the rocker arm oil control valve but I think your error code is associated with the rocker arm oil pressure switch.

First off, thank you for finding my post and taking the time to respond and help me out, I really appreciate it! Is this replacement part something that I need to order online or could pick up in the store? Also, do you by chance know the part number?

The part number for the valve timing oil pressure switch is 37250-PNE-G01 for the o-ring 91319-PAA-A01.
The genuine Acura oil pressure switch is ~$93 and you can get inexpensive aftermarket oil pressure switch parts too. I mention the low-cost aftermarket parts as an option to replace and confirm the original oil pressure switch is the actual problem. You can get the genuine and aftermarket parts from Amazon.

It also looks like you can get the entire spool valve assembly for ~$107 too, part number 15810-RWC-A01. This would be more work to replace than just the oil pressure switch.
