Brake upgrade for RDX

Ok, who thinks the brakes on the RDX both look weak and perform weak? I'm not a very mechanical person, so someone tell me if this would work? Could you upgrade the front brakes of the RDX with the four piston calipers and larger discs from the RL or TL type S? I think they look so good with the black calipers and white Acura logo. Is it a straight swap, or do you have to do a major hack job to get this to work? Thanks for any input.

If you want performance over looks then maybe a more aggressive brake pad would do. I haven't checked much on which companies has pads for the RDX though. But on my previous cars, a simple brake pad change improved braking a whole lot. It felt like I was driving a civic with bmw brakes.

It's not a straight swap unfortunately. I've checked with my car shop buddies as well as the acura dealerships. all we can do is wait until the aftermarket products for our car gets made... whenever that may be...

EBC and Hawk both make pads that are designed for heavier vehicles like SUVs and trucks. I'm not sure if the RDX is light enough to use their regular sports compounds without building up too much heat. I'd be quite surprised if they didn't make pads for the RDX. Like imlou said, the pads can make a huge difference in brake performance.

Thanks for the response guys! Swapping out brake pads would sure be a lot more cost effective. I'll look into it more.

Hawk seems to have pads for the RDX, but is only listing the rears for some reason.

Just paint the calipers, and get a sign shop to make the letters out of vinyl. Trust me, it will hold up. Mines been on my TSX through two Ohio winters. I just used rattle can caliper paint.

This is on my TSX, I assume it would work just as well on the RDX. I don't have an RDX yet, but hopefully in August I'll be able to swing it!

Those are some really nice looking wheels, though a bit too huge for my taste. What size are they anyway? They look like 20s or something but I think the camera angle has a lot to do with that. That calipers came out real well. I may have to follow suit.

You' would be surprised how much performance brake pads make more of a dif. than upgrding your rotor size and caliper.

I'd go with a Hawk or Carbotech set.

Thanks for the comps, guys. The wheels are 18's. The Oem's on the TSX are 17's. I dropped a profile on the tires, so no speedo diff. well, none that I can tell.

Here, I found this. Don't know if this has been posted here before, but you may find something you like. This is NOT where I got mine for the TSX , so I can't vouch for them. I checked R1 concepts (where I got mine) but they don't list the RDX.

Scott, here is a shortcut to the info page on EBC brake pads. Someone on here put these on & absolutely loved them. I may get them myself soon.
