Bought an '08 Tech

Well, I took the plunge and bought a new '08 Tech yesterday (didn't want to order an '09 and wait a month or so). It's Red/Ebony with a bunch of add-on goodies I really didn't want, but I got a deal I couldn't refuse ($4,500 off the sticker). I got 18" Acura 5-spoke chrome wheels, running boards, mud guards, roof rack, black pin stripe, all-weather Acura rubber mats, and tinted front windows. It's a sweet ride!

Did you take (or was) the special financing available at your price, i.e. $4.5K below sticker?

Paid hard earned cash, but could have financed, but why pay the interest? The sticker was almost $41K with all the extras. I got $32.2K for the RL, which I figured was worth $27.7K as a trade-in. So doing the math I came up with the $4.5K figure give or take a few hundred. The dealership is going to make a lot of money on the RL since it was a cream puff, plus they will also get the holdback on the RDX. Everyone is happy!?

Nope, 18"s. I hope they are not just painted chrome, but if they are and the paint doesn't chip off or turn dull I will be happy.

Good to see you over here!
When I was researching the RL I could not help but notice that some of the most arrogant people I've ever encountered were on the RL board, (Bob is a great mod!) so I think you made a really good move!

Why did you sell the RL?

I had the pic posted for a day or two, but for some reason I am getting the "red x" too. Perhaps it is a result of the porn that has been posted on this site lately. Any moderator's help will be appreciated.

Never really had any problems with any of the members on the RL side. Pretty nice bunch of guys, but like all boards there are some members that go a little overboard at times. At least I have never read "RTFM" over there. Hopefully, will not here either.

I sold the RL because it was time. It had almost 25K miles on the ody and it was a little over two years old. That is a long time for me to have a car no matter how nice it is. The RDX is the 36th vehicle I have owned. There is always something bigger and better out there. So, in a couple of years, if I am still alive, I will get new car fever again.

I'm assuming you have the chrome version of the standard 18" RDX wheels?
That's what I have. It is real chrome. Over 1 1/2 yrs & mine still look great.

I have pictures here http://www.rdr.com/randy/rdx/gallery/

You can find guys on Ebay, search RDX Chrome, that will chrome them.

I got mine from the dealer.

Yep, the pics of your wheels are the same as mine. Thanks for the info.

You added the RDX logo/emblem on the drivers door right?

CHrome + red is really a NEAT combination! Congrats

I really don't know what to think of the red color at Acura. I saw it on a RDX at the dealers Showroom and it definitly looked Burgundy or Darker red...
In the brochure it looks more like real regular red (kinda like Ferrari Red)

Yours is more burgundy... however not being an ass here but did you noticed the color difference between your rear bumper and the body paint???
This is crazy why such noticeable difference? For a 30,000+ car.

To people in the know, is it something common with the RDX (what about other colors)

The Moroccan Red Pearl changes color depending on the lighting. Sometimes it has an orange tint to it and other times it is more burgandy. I like it. It is so much better than the white pearl on my old RL which had no sparkle to it unless you were really close to it. I thought it would be like the white pearl on the Cadillacs that really pops, but it wasn't.

The dealer added the RDX emblems on the side. OEMs like on the back. Will set you back about $80 if you want to DIY.

Thanks for the info then. Good to know.

And I really like the RDX emblem. Is it on both sides or just driver's side?

Does this dealer add the emblems on all their RDX or was it a request from you (or a free offer he threw in)?

Just curious.
Thanks.

Both sides dealer installed for the look; only on mine. There is nothing free in this world!
