Another spy photo?

I got this from: http://moblogofthomas.textamerica.com/?r=4511815

I guess this guy saw it drive by while eating lunch in the bay area (CA).

So if that's it, then they won't all be two-tone.

Interesting... doesn't look very tall in that shot at all, or it looks way longer than I thought. Either way, the proportions make it look lower to the ground and almost a little station wagon-esque.

If anybody can ID that truck behind then you can get a great idea of how big it is. The truck looks like a ford ranger or mazda.

This may be the truck. Its 64.90 high and the RDX seems to be a little bit taller.

I don't beieve for a minute that the RDX was ever going to be two toned, the car shown obviously (to me anyway) had a body kit on it. They must ahve the rear window taped off, cause it sure looks like the Euro-R Accord Wagon.....

17' standard, 18 will be the optional wheels. BTW, I'll bet good money that the optional wheel will be one they've been taking to the car shows, and the standard wheel will be the one we see in the spy photos.

Excellent shot. Anyone else find it weird that the RDX has more glass in the rear quarter than that white spy pic of the MDX? I would expect the MDX to have more in the back so 3rd row occupants wouldn't feel so trapped.

Not convinced of this new spy shot

I know we are all excited about seeing a real production model of the new RDX.. but I just compared the photos of the prototype and this new spy shot....not even close. Take a look at the rear quarter window in each....would they really distort it that much? I am looking forward to the press release at the NY Auto show...I am sure the website will be updated around April 12th too.

2 more weeks guys and girls!

That is definitely not the RDX if the other spy pic was. The two vehicles are too different looking. This one is too long and the rear window is much longer an stretched out. I actually think that this may be a spy pic of the new MDX as this design seems to be in line with the sketches that have been released. With the new MDX due to be introduced later this year or early next year, I imagine that they must have a number of running early prototypes that they are testing right now.

It think it's the same as the other spy oicture but the sun glare is throwing off the D pillar's appearence. In the other spy pic we're looking at a whitish RDX in bright light and it shows more of the details.

i think that is the RDX for sure...

and i think the truck behind it is the toyota tundra, which is a full size pickup so it has a decent height.

Look closely, I believe they have black tape on the rear window to disguise the lines.

The only thing that throws me is that it looks to be driving around in downtown San Francisco (brother lives there). Not the best place to drive around if you want to keep it under wraps still. It almost seems like an argument for them releasing it at the NY auto show, if they are driving it around more or less uncovered in populated areas.

I know that one of the zone offices is in SF, so there a lot of Honda/Acura execs there. I know that when we go for the Ride and Drive introduction for sales consultants, it's usually in SF. This will be closer to the official intro, but they're being driven around undisguesed then too.

One thing is for sure from these spy pics.
No roof rack standard!!! Not even the roof rails. Looks clean but obviously those who ski will be spending more on accessories

The MDX isn't that far along the process to be driving around relatively undisguised.

Photo has RDX-esque measurements

I think the spyshot is of the upcoming RDX. If you take a look at the picture and use the wheel size as a unit of measure, the measurements come closer to the expected size of the RDX and not the bigger MDX.

I know that it's not the best way to gauge measurements, but I measured the sizes by pixels off the spyshot. Keep in mind that this method is really constrained by the available resolution. Understand that this picture was enlarged from the original phone cam picture so the actual measurements are going to be off but they should still be close.

The front wheel is about 46 pixels and the rear wheel is about 51 pixels. This probably due to the vehicle being at an angle to the photographer. The front wheel being farther is foreshortened by the perspective and so looks narrower.

I'm going to use a wheel measurement inbetween the two wheels sizes of 48 pixels. Also, it looks as if the wheels are lower profile then they would be if they were 17". So I'm going to assume the wheels are 18".

So the foreshortened vehicle length is 466 pixels. Using a 48 pixel wheel size, that's 9.7 wheel widths or about 174.6 inches using an 18" wheel size. It's actually a little longer because of the angled perspective.

The wheelbase is 280 pixels. That's about 5.83 wheel widths or 105 inches. Again. it's actually a little longer because of the angled perspective.

The height is 165 pixels. That's 3.44 wheel widths or about 61.9 inches.

Summary
Length: A little more than 174.6 inches
Wheelbase: A little more than 105 inches
Height: Around 61.9 inches

If someone can do a better analysis (taking into account the angled perspective etc.), please do.

The only reason why I find it difficult to believe that's the RDX is because of the long rear. Compared to the RDX prototype, the rear overhang in this spy pic is longer. Also, the window in the rear quarter (even if you account for the spy tape masking the C pillar) is longer than on the RDX prototype. My guess is that it's for a 3rd row, and if so, it cannot be the RDX.

good analysis, but ...

I applaude your analysis - keep it up! But I have to agree with phile - the rear section is too long and the tails too far forward for an RDX.

The rear overhang is a good point.

However, I'm not sure you can compare it to the prototype picture. It's unclear just how similar the prototype compares with the real thing.

If this earlier photo is from an RDX in testing, you can see that it differs somewhat from the prototype. The C pillar looks wider for one thing.

Here's the prototype again for reference

Nope, definitely not the new Santa Fe. None of the lines look right, IMO.

It looks like a member of the VW/Audi wagon family. Maybe a new Passat Wagon, or A3/A4 wagon? Is there a new Allroad on the way?

Maybe there is a little "black out" tape on the rear window?

Cool Where's RDX Feedback from Dallas Auto Show?

DHCLK06 - I'm suprised there've been no RDX comments or pics from the Dallas Auto Show. Was it the same two-tone silver prototype we've been seeing?

Cool IT CAN'T be...

I know that it's not an RDX. The rear quarter panel is too long, the vertical angle of the hatch is too steep, and the wheel base is way too long. I don't know what this is, but who ever thought it was an RDX needs to get their glasses checked. I can't say how I know this information, but I will say I am sure.

The spy shot is a little elongated but here's a similar angle production photo. After seeing this I do again believe it was an RDX but he glare on the D pillar is distorting our perspective of the rear window making it look larger.

It was the same silver prototype. The sales consultant there told me that the exterior was production, but certain aspects of the interior were still "under review".
