Another run of Eibachs? Heeltoe can do it!

Another run of Eibachs? Heeltoe can do it!
Hi there, I know there is a coilover option out now but we actually have some friends at Eibach who are willing to produce another run for us! We want to push it forward but before we commit we did want to see how much interest there is in this. We are looking at pricing between $250-300 depending on the interest level we see. We know there are a good lot of people who would like this more conservative suspension option...be heard in this thread!

I've had the OEM struts eibach springs for +2 years and the combo seems to holding up just fine (so far). I have just under 40,000 miles with the combo and no signs of trouble yet (73,000 miles total on RDX). The ride quality for every day cruising around town and long trips seems to be about the same to me. It might be a different story with the +10 RDX with softer set-up and FWD models without sh-awd.
The combo of eibach springs+OEM struts+sh-awd+high performance all season tires work very well with the RDX. I still have to remind myself this is a +4000lbs top heavy CUV before I hit the curves without power.

I am not a really huge proponent of camber kits in general, and with the degree of lowering these springs offer it is not likely to be an issue at all. Camber increases the more you lower. I think camber kits are becoming a hot issue now with the coilovers being offered that lower more dramatically that the springs had to this point.

You've hit the nail on the head. Your going to need them eventually if your lowering the car.

We know from people's personal experience here that these springs do not overly stress the stock shocks/struts and therefore YES you will need to replace the shocks eventually, but that is not necessarily because you are lowering the car. The stock dampers wear out over time, even in a stock setup. While you might need to replace the stock parts sooner than normal with these springs, we do not believe the loss of shock life is going to exceed an acceptable amount.
I have had cars on springs lowered 2" and more, and in these cases the shocks were gone in less than 6 months! But the RDX setup here is milder, especially when considering the longer travel range of the SUV suspension it has.
This 1.5" drop is not going to dramatically impact the life of the shocks. From what I hear many owners feel the RDX ride is pretty firm already, owing to an aggressive damper setup from the factory, further strengthening my case.
That being said I agree that getting some aftermarket parts would be an improvement in handling over the stock dampers. And with a successful springs run, we might be able to campaign for some Konis or Bilsteins to compliment them! I have a contact at Bilstein, just need to prove some demand.

It's 99 percent accurate.
Not trying to block sales here, just adding my educated opinion. I've talked to half of the custom shops here in Oregon. EVERY one of them recommends a closely matched adjustable shock/strut on my Speed 6. I ended up choosing the H&R Coil-Over Suspension. The factory struts on ANY vehicle are designed for a specific range. When you alter, or in this case shorten, that range of motion, both lifespan and performance will suffer. Any type of suspension modification should be carefully considered, and tuned, if possible, to that specific vehicle.
EDiT: On a positive note, it looks like the RDX struts are fairly reliable and well built. The Mazda struts on the other hand were not. Best of luck whatever route you may choose.

In GENERAL, I agree with the other shops and say the same thing. In fact I actually wrote about it here:
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/tech-arti...ay-or-nay.html
This however is not taking into account the degree of lowering. In my experience which is all Honda/Acura, the dampers in Honda/Acura vehicles are, as you noticed, very high quality Showa built units. They last a very long time under normal use, and when run with mild or moderate springs they don't seem to have much of an issue. It isn't just the RDX. TSX and TL people here will say the same thing...Pro Kits are fine on stock shocks and don't wear them out at any alarming rate.
In my mind the relationship between vehicle height and stock shock life is parabolic, not linear. As the lowering increases the life degrades at an exponential rate. But small lowering amounts don't have as large of an impact.

My hard driving style doesn't help either! I blame my Italian father.

PM me if you need a reply
I can recommend these springs. They're not too low so I have never bottomed out.
My only issue is with the struts. If you can get some adjustable ones then I'm all in.

If there was a Bilstein option for shocks and struts for the RDX, I would definitely buy the Eibachs and Bilsteins together and throw them on. I am just of the mind set to pair a performance spring with a performance shock. I have only done suspension on my cars when Bilstein was an option. a bit of a fanboy yes. lol

i was probably the last person in the US to get a set and i paid 360 plus 20$ shipping for mine.. so a 330 price is a good deal..

It does? I ESTIMATED $250-300 before, and then I confirmed $329...Sounds like I could make it higher than $350! But, if we did that it would be quite some time down the road.
Shipping cost is most likely going to run around $15-25 depending on your location.
