Accessories

I will take delivery of my new RDX and I'm considering adding on the running board c/w roof rack. The Acura Dealer has a promo on these options so it sounds like a good deal ($975 CAD installed). It comes with a 4 year warranty if installed by factory.

Does anyone have any input regarding these options? Good? Bad?

Thanks.

I have the running boards and I like them. My two year old uses it to get in and out of the car also its very useful when I have to wash the roof

I like the way they look. If you have very short people or kids, they are useful.

They only drawback I have experienced is that when I got in and out of the vehicle, the back of my leg rubs against the side of the running boards. This only becomes a problem when it is dirty from road salt or dirt and when it is wet. It will leave a dirty or wet mark on your pants or leg for the average height adult. The average height adult definitely does not need the assistance of the running boards to enter/exit the vehicle as the RDX sits fairly low to the ground.

Running boards make sense if you have kids who might have a hard time getting into the vehicle without them. They are somewhat less interesting if you only carry adults.

Roof rack is useful for carrying skis and the like. If you never carry anything on the roof, then the car looks better without it and there may be some gas mileage and road noise penalty.

Side Body Moldings??

Anybody get the side body moldings, list ~ $230 + install ??? They seem that they would help for minor dings and such but all pics I see are w/o them and I'm wondering if aesthetic considerations are the reason???

I would rather spend the money taking out dings with PDR. I did not like the look.

I've haven't had my RDX a month and I'd be taking out at least one ding where someone bashed the paint clear off my body side molding but no damage to the panel. Now, where's my bottle of touch-up paint...
