Acceptable Tint bubbles, scratches

Ok I just got my two fronts tinted to 50% (legal in Ohio).

It is only 24hours after tinting, but the car has been baking in the sun for a while.

I'm noticing what looks to be a few scratches on the tint itself...not horrible, but not perfect either.

Also I'm seeing tiny tiny bubbles...especially in the passenger window...maybe like 10 or so..very small, but noticeable when looking out the window.

So my question is....What is ACCEPTABLE for a good/great tint job. I know it is not a perfect science and I was even explained their might be a few tiny bubbles here and there...So what would you put up with?

I'm not going to run back there today....or even within a week because I want to let it really bake on in the sun and see if that works at least the bubbles out.

gotta let it sit buddy, at least a week, sometimes maybe 2 weeks till perfected. it will all go away, just takes time. dont open the windows!

a scratch here n there, ehh, if its bad then have them redo it.

They finished tinting yesterday at 4pm. I was going to wait until at least Friday at 4pm before I rolled them down. The guy that did it told me I could roll them down Thursday...but I'll wait.

The car will be "baking" in the sun ALL day today, tomorrow and Thursday because the guy said if I do that they will turn out even better.

It all depends on how they did your windows. The place I took my old car to took the panels off the doors and placed the film on the whole piece of glass. With this method, I was able to use the windows the same day. The way you're describing sounds like they only tinted the visible portions of the window and not the entire thing. Check with them and see if they provide any warranty work and have them redo it.

either way tho..you want to let the tint set for as long as possible. If they did it with a water method - you need to let the tint sit and dry for quite a while and all visible imperfections should vanish.

how did they do your tint, then we can help you out better..

Gotta let it sit. I waited about a week before rolling down my windows. Bubbles are normal at first.

ive always waited between 7-10 days depending on weather...but for future reference, if ur getting it tinted, get it from a place that fully warranties their work so you can always have it redone in the future if something happens

sounds to me tho that if you can already see scratches - id bring it back, it should be cleanly done, the bubbles are normal and will (should) go away

Things are looking better even today. They used the water method. I'm not rolling them down until at least Friday. (Tint job was done Monday at 4pm)

I have a lifetime warranty on the tint. So if I'm not happy after a couple weeks I'll of course have them just do it again.

I'll listen to your advice and at least give it until Monday...a full week of "baking".
