9005 led bulbs

Anyone knows if one can simply replace the 9005 drl bulbs with 9005 led bulbs ? Some say you need a decoder kitas well so that you get no flickering issue, isthat true?

I am running led drl, it came connected with a load resistor kit. Haven't got the chance to try a 9005 led without the resistor.

I believe you will get a MID code saying your drl is not lit because it draws little current compared to halogens. So technically you can just replace with a led 9005 without resistor if you can live with the code display.

I got mine from JLC Lightings a few months ago. They have only one choice of 9005 drl for RDX, and the bulbs look like 6000k. I like the fact that it's plug and play and no splice/tap into stock wires. No problems so far.

Mav - Is this what you are referring to - http://www.jlclightings.com/Acura-RD...ghts-s/143.htm

I can see the lights for the dome, license plates, etc but not sure about DRL. And just to verify, are these LED lights just plug and play with the license plate, dome, and DRL?

Yes, if you click the 'daytime running led' on the left side in your link, you will see the item on page one (7th item down the page). You may want to order the 68smd (additional$) instead of the 18smd. Even 68smd is not bright at all on the RDX.

Thanks Mav. Appreciate the help. I haven't looked at the headlights yet but how hard is it to replace these DRL's? Will I need to remove a bunch of parts to get to the DRL?

DO they go brighter if you want to use your highlights? ..or do they only stay at DRL?

Did they have the CREE LED available when you got yours? They have it listed #10 on the page. I imagine they are supposed to be brighter from what i found on reverse lightrs there.

Any info on them?

They didn't have the Cree 9005 back then. This would be better in brightness than the 68smt for sure. Thanks for pointing out they have 9005 Cree now. Wonder if they can be bought without the resister kit.

In regard to the high beam function, the 68smt does give a tad more brightness if you switch on the high beam. But I would say no one else would know that you are flashing them high; that is how useless the high beam becomes IMHO.
