50k/End of Warranty
50k/End of Warranty
hey everyone, im quickly approaching the 50k mark of ownership. Any issues to be on the lookout for (not including the many i've posted about all over the place)...but anything worthy of note to get looked at before i roll 50k this summer?
Thank you!
Thank you!
I am only about +5,000 miles out of warranty. I do all the schedule maint myself (cabin/engine air filter), Discount Tires (balance/rotate), or Acura (everything else). The issues I had:
- Quarter size spot of clear coat was pealing on front bumper. Acura repainted and gave me a loaner. (Covered under warranty)
- Condensation in my driver side headlight. Just by luck we were on vacation in a state with high humidity and I discovered the problem. (Replaced under warranty)
- Completely dead battery with no warning when I was 1500 miles out of warranty. Had the techs at interstate test just in case and it was in the "replace ASAP" range. (Purchased new battery out of pocket)
- Entertainment system not displaying channel info on the heads up strip by windshield. It happens about 1-2 times a month and I can't change any inputs on any radio controls. I have to power down/up the radio and once I had to turn off/on the RDX. Regret not taking this problem to Acura while under warranty.
- One time when I was passing at low a low speed and I needed to turbo boost the RDX sputtered and it sounded like it back fired a little before the turbo kicked in. It hasn’t happen again since that time +6 months ago. I have hondata and k/n drop-in air filter.
- Not a warranty issue, I've been lazy and haven't checked my spare tire in 12 months and the pressure was only about 25 psi compared to the need 60 psi. I will now make sure the tech always check the spare during all service checks.

TL & Q5 in the garage. Im thinking about dumping the 2nd SUV and going for the A5. Either that, or holdddddddding out for the 1% chance Acura puts out something special in its new RDX level CUV, if one actually arrives. Right now, it will not be another Acura product, they just do no look good, at all, especially for their price range, and yes, looks matter that much at least to me when we are going @ 40k +. Looking to sell my RDX within the next model year.
