Daughter took her RDX out yesterday, ran fine. This morning it wouldn't start and had the P0562 code in the message center. In addition, Check Emission System, Check Charging System, and SH-AWD lights were on.

Here's what I did:

• Jumped it to get it started
• Checked the battery while running (10.4 volts, not charging)
• Has an electrical burning smell
• Tried to put it in gear and move it and it banged pretty hard. Turned it off.
• Started it again, barely, and was able to move it in the drive where it's now parked

Based on the charging system not charging I'm assuming it's why all the lights are on, CCS, CES, SH-AWD.

Based on the low voltage when running I'm going to replace the alternator. Do I need a Acura unit or will an auto parts store unit be OK?

 

New alternator was the answer.
