1st rear diff fluid change between 10k-15k??

So I set an appointment for a routine oil change for next week because by then I'm sure I'll be down to 5%-10% life based on how much driving I have left to do and I just hit 20% on the life gauge. Anyway, the dealer said that the rear diff fluid is changed every 10-15k but the front diff fluid is every 40k. What kind of b.s. is this? I have no intention of changing my rear diff at 12k. My normal routine is to change both sets every 40k. So is this b.s. or what?

Rear diff operates on a different change schedule than the tranny fluid. Tranny in most cases should be done about every 30k, although acura maintenance calls for it every 60k. The first rear diff change can come as early as 7k, but usu changed out by 15k. The rear diff is a frequent change and you may be able to pull 30k out of it, but normal operation w/Acura calls for it around every 15k

Well, the MID hasn't gone off yet but it should in the next couple of days. If it says I need it then I guess I should do it but my frame of reference comes from my Xterra. I changed both diffs & tranny at 40k just because, and when I did another routine change at 90k the shop said the diff fluid was spotless and recommended I wait until 130k, so when I'm told with this vechicle I need to do it around ~15k of course my attitude is going to be "wtf".

Yes, most people were surprised how early it came, and there were multiple threads about it. But it's what the computer tells you, and what are you going to do? argue with it?

LOL. with some fanatics here, they might just hack it and set it for their own leisure

The initial change at 15k is to drain out metal particles after break-in. After that my MID has called for it (sub-item 6) at intervals of about 26k miles.
