'09 RDX changes?

Hey, I'm here from the RL side. I am looking to buy an '09 RDX Tech this fall. Anyone know for sure what changes are coming other than telling me to check out the new TSX features?

I don't think there's been any info released yet. Should be something closer to summer, though.

Thanks for the reply. Hope to be a regular here once I get my '09 RDX once they come out. I am hoping for XM Weather, HD radio, and auto on/off headlights. A turbo diesel option would be nice too.

You already get weather on XM for specific cities. Unless you're talking about a kind of weather.com station which is completely dedicated to weather. Not sure how long you would actually listen to that though.

The auto on/off headlights were a bummer for me when I purchased my RDX as well but now that I've had it for 1.5 weeks I couldn't care less about that feature. Same for the auto passenger seat. I decided I made a big snuff about nothing.

The only real thing I want/need is intergrated ipod support like the new tl's. At the very least a usb port to plug a memory stick in would be nice though as well.

I agree on the passenger seat and headlights. I really dont care about those missing options anymore. MY dream option is an automatic trunk. I had it on the Q7 and didnt think i would miss it...but I WISH my RDX had the hydraulic trunk open/close button.

unless your going to get a very good price under invoice, theres alot more reason to wait for the 09 than there is to jump on an 08. Even when the 09's come out, you should be able to make a deal close to invoice....you buy an 08 now your car is basically a year old out of the box at more or less the same price that the 09 will end up costing you.

id say wait....my money is on the passenger seat is power, as one of the few if any changes/upgrades.

I am definitely waiting till the 09's come out. I just want to see what the differences are. If there is no real improvements i want (i.e. mp3 player support), then I will just get a 08 at close to invoice or maybe even spring for the tech if I can get it at almost the non-tech price.

So, if June is the confirmed production/lot date, any idea when a list of updates for the 2009 RDX will be available?

I'm getting the itch to buy one because the lease rates are so good in Canada, but I want to a) know what changes the '09 has in store (hopefully the '09 TSX iPod interface and power passenger seat,) b) drive a VW Tiguan. A full load Tiguan competes well with the RDX in terms of features/power/etc, but the lease rates may make it more expensive.

Question 2009's

Wonder when we can find out what the invoice price will be. I'm close to buying but agree with MMike that if we can get a good deal on 2009's why not go that route?

Just talked to my sales guy yesterday. FWIW, he told me the '09s will carry the flat-hood styling of the new TSX, TL and RL, and associated design elements. So they will have a slightly different look, if he's right. This sounds logical to me as it's in keeping with Acura styling changes every few years.

I think the new TSX is nice looking; I'm very interested to see how this plays out on the RDX.

Personally I would be very surprised if the RDX gets any sort of styling changes this year. Typically the Acura vehicles are all on a 5 year cycle, and any styling changes are done in the 4th year of production so the last two years of production are "refreshed."

Actually, it's the 3rd year that usually gets it.....which would be 09 for the RDX.

i think its the 3rd or 4th ... the tsx styling was changed a little bit in 2006 which was the third year ... but the tl got changed in 07 which was in its forth year as well as the rl getting slightly changed in 09 which would be in its 4th year.

IIRC, the TSX is the only model in a 5 year cycle that got a MMC in the third year. The TL has been in year 4 for the last two generations, as was the MDX. The current RL is going into it's 5th year of production by getting it's MMC. We'd have heard more rumors if the RDX was getting it's MMC change this year.

I just hope that it doesn't get that chrome piece, ala the 09 TSX and the 09 RL, on the front grill.

It’s inevitable. that’s part of the new line look for Acura.

The '99 TL got a minor refresh in '01 IIRC. Basically different headlights and wheels. The current TL has looked the same since '04.

The minor refresh actually came in 2002. It gave the TL all new front end styling, as well as the addition of the Type S model.

The '04 TL was refreshed for the '07 model year. It was given new bumpers front and rear, revised taillight internals, new gauges, wheels, and the Type S model.

update from my local dealer:
"There would not be any major changes to the 2009 RDX as I have heard.
It looks like the mid cycle change will occur in the 2010 model year."

yeah I was told "by a dealer" that the '09's won't be coming out till september. Even though I don't mind if there are no major changes with the 09, i do want ipod integration like the tsx at least. Hope we hear something soon!

Again, the dealer is misinformed or not being honest. 09 RDX=June build with June delivery. All dealers have access to the same info.

I went to my local dealer to finally test drive the RDX and he told me Oct. Five minutes later the sales manager comes out and says is there anything he can do to do the deal that day. Oh brother...

they will change the front grill i'm assuming, like they did to the TSX when the 04-05 models and the 06-07-08 models were different a little.

I heard from my dealer today and he told me "later this fall" for the '09s. He said the colors would have new names, but could not give me any other info. He did not expect any major changes though. I guess they really want to sell all the '08s first.

Well unless June is now considered "Fall." lol Tell your dealer to check the info that Acura sent out about 2 months ago.

09 RDX colors White Diamond Pearl, Palladium Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Royal Blue Pearl, Grigio Metallic, Basque Red Pearl. As before, any can be had in either Ebony or Taupe interiors.
