07 transmission blown

My RDX stopped moving forward while applying the gas pedal today. This happened while moving up a a bit of a hill and I had to pull over and call for a tow because no amount of gas would keep it going. Red fluid on the ground (but also coolant dripping out of the overflow tank of the rad). No codes on the OBD. 195k km on the dial (120k m). I know about the Odyssey/V6 Accord failed trannies but I definitely didn't expect it in any RDX.

This is just a blown fuse, right?

My guess if its coolant and trans fluid is that your radiator blew and all the trans fluid and coolant spilled out and your trans went int limp mode to protect itself

Interesting. How is the trans fluid related to coolant?

It has a transmission cooler routed through the bottom tank of the radiator.

Good luck - hopefully you can get away with a new radiator and fresh fluids. Attempting to drive with nearly dry transmission can ruin you quick.

I'll start by saying I bought this RDX for CAD$8k 11 months ago. The shop called to say the transmission cooler failed and and the transmission needs to be rebuilt/replaced because it's been contaminated with coolant. Trans will need to be flushed two or three times (that doesn't sound great given the never-flush advice I've read many times). Also re/re rad. Expect a bill in the CAD$6000. Acura service dept had never heard of an RDX re/re transmission. Tranny shop said they did one 3 years ago and the bill was $6500. I've been buying used Toyotas and Hondas for decades but only after a lot of research on the year/make/model to make sure there's no history of catastrophic failures just like this -- I guess my number was bound to come up over a long enough time period.

Just do a flush of trans fluid and hopefully you can get the coolant out as much as possible. I wouldn't say that trans is toast already, Did you go to a dealer?

Got a second opinion, tranny is ruined and needs to be replaced. Rad as well. Thanks to the ATF cooler it looks like I'll be going full electric sooner than expected.

Got the RDX back on the road for CAD$3k with used transmission (warrantied by supplier for part but not labour).
Ordered a 2021 Tesla M3, ETA mid to late June.
Thanks to everyone here who helped me out with my last ICEmobile!

Ah, life before FM radio.
This reminds me of bumpy roads and record players.
