Whoo car problems!
I know that I have to buy a new housing unit for one of my taillights because it's out. For the past few days my car would occasionally try to stall on my while I was sitting at a red light or at a stop sign. I have to press the gas and the break or it'll cut off. It has nothing to do with the air or my radio because I can shut everything off and it makes no difference. My check engine light came on but I figure that's because my bright self forgot to check my oil and I was out. I added 3 quarts of oil, went to work, and came home. The engine light was on the whole time and the car tried to shut off at every light and stop sign...what's the deal? I've been looking through the haynes and I'm lost...

Um, there was no oil in your motor? are you leaking oil? do you put oil in your car? that's your first sign something's wrong, check your coolant level too. Hopefully you don't have a blown head gasket or something. Does the engine smoke at all? Do you still have oil in your car after you put more in?

There is oil in my car now, no smoking, though. My car eats oil and @ 220k it's going to. I generally do have to add oil 500 miles before I'm "due" for a oil change, so I always end up taking it in early.

They had to clean the throttle valve and the idle motor just by the looks of things. The check engine light came on because there is a stoppage in the EGR which is $200 to fix. He said after this is fixed, the light should go off. The light may come back on if the EGR valve does not respond to the cleaning and then something else (can't remember) will have to be replaced. Sound sensible?
