What's the problem

I have a 1997 acura 3.0 cl which I bought a year ago from an owner.
Car is a great and good car. Just the only problem is I can't figure what is wrong.

It's an automatic but when I'm at a stop and start to accelerate it works hard trying to pick up speed and while driving it doesn't seem to be switching gears.
Also my shift gear (p r n d) will not move from park at all, I would need to manually push the release button and move the shifter to neutral, but once it's in park I would need to redo it again.

Can anyone help

You need a new transmission.

I would look into a faulty tcu/pcm first before replacing an expensive transmission. A faulty tcu will result in the torque convertor locking up much like the symptoms you're having.

Whatever happened with this? Did you get it fixed?
