ok so my speedometer was acting wacky for like a week with random tranny shifts, then yesterday it was going really crazy and the transmission felt really bad ..the d4 light also started flashing !......finally i ordered the vss which i got for very cheap on ebay so i bought 2 just in case. i installed one of them today and when i tryed the car the speedometer was completetly dead ! no movement at all but no flashing d4 light or tranny problems. tryed the other 1 i bought to see and still the same no speedometer needle movement at all! completely DEAD! can it be 2 faulty vss? is there any specific process to install? i think it has to be the vss because if it wasnt it wouldnt change how it was acting....help and advises very much appreciated

 

EXTRA INFO ! after the change the speedo doesnt even tick like it used to. vtec does not kick in. cruise control does not work. i disconnected battery for about 15min to reset ecu(only negative) also ive never had the check engine light luminate before or after the change...same goes for the abs light ! and before i changed to the new one when the speedo would go wacky so would the odemeter ! did i miss something? thanks

 

IT WAS THE VSS !!! i rechecked the new one i put on yesterday and i disconnected it and pushed the connecter in hard and i heard a snap ! bingo ! it just needed the connector really to be put in there ! speedo working now with no erratic shifting ! when does vtec kick in again? i feel it around 4800...correct? also the cruise control still dont work....dont think its vss related though

 

I too need to replace the VSS on my 1997 CL 3.0. Where is it???? I cannot find it and the info is so general.
