trunk will not open

trunk will not open
is there any way other than with the little plastic lever by the door to open the trunk ? my turnk is stuck closed and everytime i pull on the lever i can hear something around the turnk moving but it just wont open . anyone have a drawing or something that would show how the cable runs to the trunk ??
