fri my 98 stoped going forward,i had to drive home in reverse 4 blocks,when it sat there for about five min it went forward again.do ya'll think it needs filter and service or a new tranny?

Sounds like the tranny is gonna need rebuilt, you could try a drain and fill, but if your clutch packs aren't engaging the right gears, it may not help at all
