Transmission

Hi I have a 98 CL 2.3 while back when I let out Clutch sounded like belts squeaking but its a bearing in my tranny friend said it was pilot bearing and pull tranny and replace bearing,Took to a shop didnt even listen to it said they dont have pilot bearing but its one of 3 bearings in tranny and they cant b replaced need to buy a new or used good tranny.Is this correct?

Go to another shop. You need a throw out bearing, which will come with the clutch kit.

yes a throw out bearing usually just fits on some forks that the clutch cable pushes in and out with the clutch pedal to engage the clutch/pressure plate to the engine. They can be replaced by themselves but most people once they have it down that far they replace clutch/pressure plate along with the throw out bearing. there may be a pilot bushing also on the acura (not sure) but that is usually just a brass hollow bushing that fits inside where the transmission shaft fits into the engine which may be one of the things they were talking about but even that can be changed but it usually doesn't make noise like you are describing. Sounds like this mechanic either doesn't know what he is talking about or he just doesn't want to mess with your car, either way i would find another shop or do it myself if I could
