Strange (almost electronic sounding) hum from brakes

It's winter here in Utah which means it's time for snow. Last night while I was driving home on a neighborhood road with freshly fallen snow I was approaching a turn and started to slow down but my car kept sliding (I haven't put on my winter tires yet) so I pushed all the way in on the brakes hoping for the ABS to kick in but instead I got this weird humming sound coming from the front of the car. It only happens when I'm sliding and push the brakes fully down though. During normal driving I have no problems and no strange sounds. Is this something I should be worried about? Is my ABS not working or something?
If something is wrong, it should still be under warranty but I thought I'd check here before I spent my entire afternoon at the stealership waiting for them to figure it out.

Do you feel the ABS kick in? The pedal will pulse up and down rapidly when ABS is engaged.

ABS isn't even kicking in. It just hums and I keep sliding towards the other side of the street. It's pretty scary almost running into cars and telephone poles.
