Click Click Click

When I start my car, I hear that about 80 times before it turns over. I have a 96 accord ex 5-speed. I thought perhaps someone on this site may have experienced this also. Any insight? I depress the clutch fully and turn the key, but it will just click, anywhere between 2 and 20 times before finally turning. What could be up? Thanks all.

Or a weak bettery that can't get enough power into the starter to crank the flywheel. You can get both tested.

Yes, but usually if the battery is low you don't get the clicking, the clicking is the starter

Yep, started is definitely done. I had the same exact thing happen to me, 2.3 5spd.

Just 2 days ago my Lexus wouldn't start, and had the clicking sound over and over and over again while I attempted to start it. Jumped started it, and when I got home, I noticed my battery was completed dried when I took the 2 caps off. Put water in it, and recharged the battery. Been a charm ever since. I guess it just depends on how dead the battery is.

BUT, yes, if the battery is really low, you won't get the clicking sound.

Starter can be repaired by replacing the copper solenoid contacts that wear out and cause the clicking (solenoid throws but contacts are worn so no starter motor engagement). Search my threads or look at sherco auto supply website for parts and pics.

good luck
