Rattle at 1900 RPM

I'm getting a rattle at 1900RPM. I can not only hear it but I can feel it pretty strongly. It's only discernible when I'm accelerating. If I rev the engine in neutral I can't hear or feel it.

I took it to several shops and they checked out the exhaust and cat and all heat shields but they're all solid.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, I did get a mechanic to replace some motor mounts, but that didn't do a thing. Could transmission mounts be the culprit?

I have almost the same problem. Rattles harder in higher gears. Mechanics I went to also couldn't pinpoint it.

Anyone know? Also 5-speed here - seems like a common problem for our cars.

Yeah, my '97 manual cl has the same rattle. I was in another one that had it as well. All around 2000 rpm. The heat shield and everything is good in my car. even the one around the cat. I just had my car checked at a dealer and it gave no codes so the cat is okay, I think. I have no idea what that vibrating rattle is but I'd love to get rid of it.

Yours also depends on engine load, right? So if you rev it in neutral there is no noise, and almost none in 1st. Gets worse in higher gears?

I only hear it accelerating in 4th and 5th at 2000 rpm. Maybe in 3rd, rarely.

I've checked the entire heat shield and anything that could possibly rattle under the car. I think something is loose in the cat, although I've heard the exact same thing in other '97 cl's. From the comments here it seems fairly common. Funny no one has figured out exactly what the problem is.

I just installed a full exhaust and without a resonator. It does the same sound for me at 2000 rpm in high gears, but what I realized it is only happens when it rains.

I wonder if it is the exhaust mounts then?

yeah could be the mounts but something I thaught of is that my exhaust doesn't have a Flex pipe right after the cat like the stock exhaust does.
That could be a problem as it has less movement and stays more solid making it rattle or knocking on something.
Hope this might help me out find a solution.
