Problem with ABS light, speedometer and a clicking noise

I'm having a weird problem that I'm hoping you guys can help me out with. A little over a month ago while driving down the highway the ABS light came on for a few seconds and then went out. It did this a couple times in a row and then stopped.

About a week later, it happened again. This time there was a clicking noise from behind the dash, my speedo dropped to zero and then came back up, and the ABS light came on all at the same time. After a few seconds the ABS light went out. This happened a few more times in a row and then everything was back to normal.

Yesterday I was driving down the road on my way home and it all happened again. This time I had the radio on and each time it happened the radio popped loudly. Once again it happened two or three times and then went away.

The clicking noise seems to be coming from behind the dash on the passengers side. When the speedo drops, the car isn't stalling or cutting off, the gauge just seems to be freaking out. I didn't notice any other gauges or lights flickering, and none of the warning lights other than the ABS come on. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

thats some freaky stuff, dude my abs light is on but thats cuz my brakes are really bad. do you have trouble with your brakes?\
and as far as everything else, i believe thats all sensor problem that you should get diagnosed at the dealer. 70 bucks and they will tell you everything thats wrong with it
best way to do it

make sure your brake fluid is topped off, that was the reason why my light went off...

Brakes are fine, brake fluid level is find, as far as I can tell. Haven't tried to test the ABS to see if it works.

Starboy, any idea what kind of relay? Some ABS component? There is some ABS component located behind the passenger side dash isn't there?

It seems someone else had a similar problem after having an amp installed:

My car is pretty much stock, haven't done anything to the radio or any other electrical components (aside from the friggen window regulators). Does this set off any light bulbs for anybody? I'd at least like to have some idea of what the problem is, narrow it down a bit, before I have to take my car in and let the dealership or some mechanic dig around till they find something.

It's most likely a sensor, try topping off your brake fluid. If that doesn't work, take it to a mechanic and have them pull the abs error code, it'll be stored in the ECU. My guess is it's a wheel speed sensor. I've replaced 3 of em, and an axel, and 2 calipers trying to fix my ABS light

ABS Light...possibly the ABS Sensor

My light's been on a full year, because I refuse to pay $240 for the sensor and another $250 to the dealer to put it in.

yeah i have a problem with the clicking noise too. only once in a while, but i noticed it in my friends car (he has a volvo) well i think it's common to hear a noise once and a while after all a car can't be 100% soundless unless it's like a 120G Mercedes-Benz or something, but if it's a constant noise then i'm guessing there's just a little something loose behind the dash or something

OK, just to update everyone on the situation. After I posted this, the problem went away, until today. When I went to start my car after work the car wouldn't start, it was acting like I had a low battery. Car started right up with jumper cables, but would do the ABS light/speedo/clicking as I was driving around - seems like there was brief power fluctuation, like the electricity was cutting out briefly. Turns out there was corrosion on the battery cables that was causing power problems, so check your cables and connections if you're having this problem...

Problem with ABS light, speedometer and a clicking noise

Ihad the same problem with my 97 2.2CL and it was the "pigtail" from the alternator that was loosened from the slot .

I have had all the same problems, and I even replaced my alternator and battery but to no avail. After work today I think I have to delve deeper and look at the wiring harnessess because I think our problem is the connection to the battery.
