Over Heating
question.. sometimes when i drive pretty hard and i let my car idle for a bit, the temp will go way high like almost near the H point.. i was wondering if i put more coolant, will it help? im a bit worried. but it only happens sometimes.. help please!!

well if your coolanyt level is fine, then id move on to thinking fans or thermostat.....
I mean if it only goes up after you go on a hard run id assume the fans might not be working at 100% efficiency (fancy way of saying the fan is dying, but not dead). thats what happened to mine not too long ago, just replaced the fan motor for like 50 bucks, and the the temp has stayed at its normal mark ever since

well my fans are brand new.. and my radiator was changed like 30k ago and im going to put more coolant tomorrow morning.. a guy from kragen said it might be my thermostat. btw has anyone put a switch for the fans to go off and on??

putting a switch to the fan is not hard but i wouldn't recommend it i mean why put a switch when its suppose to turn on by itself sounds like a hassle to me try checking the fuses, put some more coolant, check your oil, and just to be safe check connections to the fan mysterious things do happen if none of those problems i guess for sure thermostat

You're right. I cant think of any instance where turning on the a/c would lower coolant temps down. If you're already overheating - you ecu should have kicked on both fans by that point.
Turning on the heater - would open up coolant to the heater core... acting like a seperate cooler. But it's only a temp fix and depends on the situation
