my car completely died for a bit

so a few times yesterday and a few times other days ill be on the freeway (scary i know) and it will just shut off completely. my car i mean.. and then maybe a few yards down the power will come back on again. im talking EVERYTHING shuts off. no lights no nothing. and then this morning i was driving and i was at a stop sign and my car completely died again. i couldnt start it at all so i had to push it to the side of the road...and then i turned my hazards on and they didnt work either. like it wouldnt start, it wouldnt click, etc. i just replaced the battery not too long ago.

so this has been happening to me a lot lately but not as bad as this morning. i thought it was the alternator cause i figured the battery by itself is only used to start the car but then all the electrical stuff is ran through the battery while the alternator charges it right? and if the alternator dies then everything runs on the battery till it dies then everything else dies with it (wow that was a mouth full)..

if its my alternator, wouldnt my battery not be able to charge? i mean every time i start it, it starts...its only when im driving that this thing happens. i need to find an answer because i drive students in my car and i dont want to be stuck on the freeway or something with students in there. hahaha. id make them get out and push it to the side while i stay inside. haha. jk...

Bad battery cable connections seem most likely. Make sure they are clean and tight.

good luck

It's possible to crack a battery post, or the clamp may be too large for post so that tight clamping cannot occur, or the wire termination to the clamp may have corroded badly preventing a good connection (most likely).

You've found the problem. Sometimes a replacement wire is more reliable than attempting to reterminate a new clamp on the existing wire.

good luck
