i know there have been many threads about this, but not with this question. I am going to get aftermarket headlight bulbs and plug them in my car, is that safe? or should i just get the HID conversion.

This has been talked about many many times. What do you mean by aftermarket bulbs? Silverstars? 9005 conversion? ebay halogens?
Silverstars will give you the hid look but not nearly as bright. A plug and play hid kit off of ebay is the next best thing however a projector retro would be the ultimate option for looks and for function.
Just a couple of threads that i found when i searched

silverstars are going to be the cheapest/easiest
a new hid usally cost little more than $100, but you could find someone's used hids for about $100(try craigslist/ebay)
i got lucky and found a set of 6000k hids for $100 from a integra that where plug and play, they plugged into the stock harness and fit the lightbulb socket in the headlights.

I have an extra set of HID ballasts with 9004 bulbs (wrong ones for the car, but that's what they sent me) that I'd sell you if you're interested... Then you could just pick up whatever color temp bulbs you wanted, and they're plug and play... Took like 20 minutes to hook mine up... PM me if you're interested...
