How to find an Exhaust leak?

This past weekend, my car seems to have developed a bad exhaust leak. Here's the problem, I can't seem to find it. With the windows up, it sounds like it's coming from the back of the car. Yet, with the windows down, it sounds like it's coming from under the hood... So, any secrets to finding exactly where it's at? Or just grab a buddy, jack the car up, have them push the gas and listen?

Thanks in advance guys.

if you have access to a lift toss your friend in the car and lift the car up and listen. if you think youve found where its coming from try rubbing some soap on the spot and if it bubbles youll know youve got air getting out.

Closest thing I'll have to a lift is a floor jack and some jackstands...
