Ok well I figured out why I was hearing a whining sound comming from the engine compartment.
It wasnt the belts it wasnt the power steering pump.....
It was the trans!
It went out last nite on the way home just stared slipping really bad I can still drive it but I left it in the garage this morning I guess the tranny is toast and I will have to get it replaced...
Anyone have any suggestions as to who or where might be the best place to take my CL to to have the tranny fixed.
I live in west los angeles.

is it a 3.0 or 2.x?
if its a 2.x i would get a junk yard low mileage 94-97 accord tranny and get that put in

I called a few places yesterday and it looks like its gonna be like $2200!

 

As of today im in the same boat as you. Everything was fine until this morning, never slipped before today. Now its whining like crazy and starts slipping baaaaad at 25 mph.

 

yea mine's at 25 too i think im gonna sell it its not worth it for $2200 i can almost get another car for the ammount of cash they want just for a trans that may or may not hold up that crazy. the risk is too high and the cost is high as well, i got 156k out of it allready and i bought it new in 97 so it might be time to let it go and give someone else a headache....

 

The first quote I received to rebuild and reinstall the transmission is $1800 with a 6 month warranty. I did find someone who totaled their 97 CL and I may be able to grab that tranny and have it installed for less.

 

$1800 ! and its only good for 6 months.....

the one out of the totaled CL sounds good how many miles does it have on it?
but then think about it how long is that one gonna last,,,, damn i wish there were an easy solution to this problem......
