Any Wiring Pros? 97-3.0
Last night, I was trying to wire in a hardwire FM modulator and was planning on wiring into the cigarette lighter since I never used it. Instead, since the wires would not reach the lighter, I ended up trying to wire into the clock's harness. In doing this, I shorted
a hot and ground wire in the harness by accident. After this, my "blue" interior lights (guage lights and other backlights) would no longer light as well as my day driving lights. Everything else seemed to work fine. Also, after doing this my check engine light came on.
After that, I figured I just blew a fuse, then after checking the fuse I realized that the clock and the blue backlight lights were on the same circuit as the clock and a different circuit than the day lights. *confused*
Replaced both fuses and still the day lights and backlights are mia. Also, after swapping these fuses around, the CE lights turned off.Is it possible I blew a relay or is the problem more severe than that?
This is probably unrelated, but after the CE light went out the car would no longer start. Engine was cranking but almost sounded like it wasnt getting fuel immediately and then started clicking like when the battery is dead. I don't think the batt is dead b/c the starter cranks every time i turn the key.
It's possible no one has ever had this happen, but any ideas would be great.
Thanks in advance

Does your radio work? The cig lighter and radio are on the same fuse, also there should be 2 sets of fuses for the lights/clock. So after this, you couldn't start the car? Sounds like you may have drained the bat, or there's an open ground somewhere causing a short. Try switching the wires back to the way they were, also try jumping the battery. For power, I'd go off the HU's constant power if I were you, much easier to tap.
Hey,
I cant find a list of the fuses in the car, but I only found one fuse that pertained to interior lighting. However, that fuse seemed to contain the clock and dome lights (which work).
The only other possible fuses are "Day Lights", which are actually not working. From what I always thought, the day lights are the corner clearance lights that turn on with one rotation of the light control. When i replaced this fuse with one of the other 7.5A's, the lights still didnt work.
Ima grab some fuses after work and stare at the fuse panel cover for a while til i find that second interior light fuse youre talkin about.
Thanks again for the help.

are u checkin the ones under the hood or the fuse box in the drivers kick panel??....the fuses under the hood utilize a constant 12 volt supply....try cheking all of those if u havent already......using a digital voltmeter to check all of your fuses would be a big help too.....on the brighter side of things, its highly unlikely that u fried any relays in the car
Ahh.
Ahh, doh
Forgot to post my results 2 days ago. Yea, after work I looked under the hood and found the busted fuse. After that, I had to get my car jumped for another reason, and to my dismay the SRS light came on outta no where. Made another post for that tho
Anyway, thanks much for the help
