center console between shifter and filpup storage spacing

hey guys,
for like the past couple of months ive noticed some extreme spacing between the shifter and flipup storage. and if i smack it back into place it'll just return to its orignal spacing. any tips on what could be causing this?

I can't really make out whats going on in the pictures. Are you talking about the shifter plate lifting up? I would think if this is what is happening something is either broken that keeps it down or there is something putting pressure underneath it causing it to rise

You need to remove the screws from the armrest and under the cup holder, reseat the armrest so there's no gap, and then screw it back down
