Car Wont Start after enabling Alarm Chirp??

I read someones post about enabling the "chirp" on the alarm by pressing and holding the lock & trunk buttons on the remote until the red light blinks twice so i went out and did it last night...woke up this morning and the car wont start..i get a healthy crank but it will not fire. Is it possible that i engaged some type of "immobilization" when i messed with the remote? Lol, this is a long shot but im hoping that is the culrpit as opposed to something more serious...please let me know if anyone had a similar experience or if you can relay some relevant info..ive had the car for 3 days now and it has started flawlessly over 20 times, never a question there, and the car has been running fine never any hesitation or misfiring. Thanks

I don't think the 97's had an immobilizer (though search results have conflicting reports) because the keys are not chipped.

Try jumping it?

Have you tried locking/unlocking the doors w/ remote? This should reset any immobilizer function.

If that doesn't work, you should start by checking for fuel or spark. Easiest test is to spray throttle body cleaner in the throttle body entrance (duct removed) while turning engine over. If it starts briefly, the problem is fuel supply. If nothing, spark is missing.

If fuel supply is problem check for power to the Main Fuel Relay.

If ignition, check for power to the distributor on the blk/yel wire at the distributor connector. If no power, the keyswitch is faulty. If you have power, the coil or ignitor is faulty (most likely coil).

good luck
