when i turn the key the friggin car wont start up. everything else comes on, the lights, sound system, dashboard, etc. i hear the clicking sound but the car just wont start? what should i do, Dr. Phil???

 

probly the starter?. note: recall for ignition switch from acura, could be that too?.

its your starter for sure....but for now you can get a wooden pole and hit it....starter is slipping

 

it could be your battery.. it might not have enough juice to start up your car.. but enough to get your electronics working..

wut they mean is take like a screwdriver handle and hit ur starter (fairly hard) while someone is trying to start ur car, it means that ur solenoid could be dirty, or if that doesn't work, replace ur starter.

 

I am having a similar problem...when i turn my key, it just makes clicking sound. When i keep trying to start my car, after couple tries it starts right up. Sometimes it feels like it works right away when i turn my key slowly. Im thinking its the ignition switch problem.
Anyone else encountered this kinda problem and it turned out to be starter??

clicking usually means its your battery.. check your cables for corrosion.. and wipe it off clean.. and also if u didnt change your battery for a REALLY long time.. u should do that

 

I cleaned off my battery terminals and and installed new postive terminal. The battery voltage when car off is 12.56v, and about 14.36v when car on...I am thinking its the starter? How hard is it to remove the starter from the 2.2cl? I am thinking about removing it and taking it to pepboys to get it tested. It just clicks and it starts sometimes and sometimes it just clicks and i have to turn it couple times and it will start up.

 

i never removed a starter before.. so i wouldnt know how hard it is.. maybe u could search this forum and find your answer..

IMO ... it shouldnt be too hard to take off and put back on

 

i believe it works without something trying to start the car at the same time...its usually not a good idea to have someone fiddling under the hood when you start the car up..you never know what could happen if something catches you

YUP, It's the starter on mine. I went out and tapped the starter and it started up but you can tell the starter is dragging. Now off to the auto store to buy one!!! Thanks guys, thank god for the internet!!! NO MORE being RAPPED by the repair shop just for a diagnosis!!!

 

if only cars came with a pull start...
