Question Car Overheats - Speedometer stopped working!

HELP!!!

My car started to overheat yesterday, there was a leak in my radiator hose. After 3 miles of driving, my thermometer went up....so I turned around to go home and all of a sudden my speedometer went crazy and then went to zero! BUT I WAS STILL DRIVING. Do you think my circuits just went crazy from overheating? I haven't driven it as it is being worked on. I am going for a diagnostics later, but thought someone might be able to point me in the right direction!

Thanks!!!
Sandy

weird, the same thing just happened to me this morning, although only the thermometer went beserk... when i idled at a red light, the needle rises quickly to the red mark...i was SCARED!!!

I drove to a shop immediately and got it fixed... turned out there's a leak on the radiator hose and radiator cap... also the thermostat needed to be replaced so i did that...

Overall, 80 bucks for everything: hose leak, new rad cap, new thermostat, i also told them to put in the front & rear upper strutbar ... car drives like a champ now...

You should ask them to check the things that i mentioned...hope that helps....

I could have been possible that the Vechicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or CounterShaft Speed Sensor was damaged during the leak. For a 97 3.0 CL the speed is measured by the VSS. Not sure about the 97 2.2 CL. 98-99 2.3 and 3.0 CL the VSS was removed and the Countershaft Speed Sensor measures the speed.
