Brake question

I happen to have an extra set of front brake pads laying around, and I was wondering if they would fit my rear calipers? I know they are always specified as front, or rear, but they do look quite a bit alike, and might as well save a little money(if possible). I kinda doubt it, but don't want to assume. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they're different, but the only real way to know is try I guess

different pads man. They're shaped the same, but the size is slightly off.

The rears are much much smaller than the fronts.

Yeah, just went to the store, and you could tell right away the rear ones were smaller. Doesn't really make sense to me but whatever.

I'm trying to do my rear pads right now. I searched the diy forum, but couldn't find a write up. Does anyone have one for the rear pads? Everything is so crammed together in there I can't see if I have to take all the stuff off or what.

take the calipers off just like the fronts. Take the old pads out. Use a big flat head screwdriver to turn the caliper piston down ( Do NOT use a c-clamp or similiar, the rear caliper piston TURNS, unlike the front which compresses down ).

Proceed as normal.

lol, I was trying to use a c-clamp for like 15 minutes and was going nuts.... Got it all done now. PS, I thought changing the pads on the front was really easy, but if I had to do rotors too I probably wouldn't feel that way.
