Another ABS light problem.

Hi, I have a '97 CL 2.2 with the abs light on. Occasional the petal goes soft but still brakes.

I've read a bunch of other posts with the same problem but I haven't seen the code I get.

As per instructions in the other posts I get:
****____******** Repeating
48 I assume. Could any kind person tell me what the code translates to? Is there a list somewhere? I couldn't find one searching.

iduno mang.. kinda sounds like your abs kicked in and was working. what were the road conditions when the light came on and the pedal got soft???
my work van used to come on when ever it liked. it would be winter, -30, and id slam on the brakes and no abs,.. it would be summer, +30, my shoe lace would fall on the pedal abd the abs kicked in n shit,... pppffff, fuckn hate abs.

Dry, both hot ~100f and cooler ~60f. Lights been coming on for a week or so now. Occasional vibrating noise when I crank the car just not every time. Every 10th or so. But the light stays on just the same. The pedal isn't soft all the time just a couple 3 times now. Still stops, just at the bottom of the pedal.

Checked both fluid reservoirs. Both are full to right above the full line.

The light means that either 1 of your wheel speed sensors is bad, or that your abs pump isn't priming correctly

yah mang, like black ac said, sounds like the abs pump isnt priming.

Thanks, Would there be any way of resetting the abs pump without replacing it? And would A scanner tell me if a speed sensor was bad.

i had the pump issue and was told buy acura that it is an o-ring in the bottom of the pump that is the issue.,. i never really pursued it further as i hate abs and want it gone. i dont know enough about the speed sensors to give an accurate assessment but they seem like they would fail because of the location of them and when sensors go bad it can be intermittent, kinda like you speak of.

The ABS light on my 97 3.0 CL is on. Trying to get the code(s) out but the paper clip trick on the 2p connector did not work. No flash at all. Any thoughts?

yah, try not to do the ol' paper clip technique. an odb2 reader is the way to go.

Thanks. How do I do this? I did not see any ABS codes last time I pulled out codes when the CEL came on. Any special setting on the scanning tool required for this?

mine stores all codes and potential codes it shows the major codes but i have to scroll threw to see others. mine was a $300 scanner.

I thought an obd2 scanner couldn't read ABS error codes?
