Recently bought a 99 CL, and put a tank of regular in it. Shortly thereafter, it started knocking during acceleration. It knocks really bad in the morning, and after I've been driving it for a while as well. I've gone through three tanks of premium since, and I am wondering what your thoughts are. Should I get it checked out?

I think you need a valve adjustment--to my knowledge the car is designed to run on regular gas. I looked at a 98 2.3 CL when I was recently looking for a used car, and I think it was knocking a bit when I test drove it.

 

runnning premium will do Nothing to our cars, bad or good. Is it a kocking or a clicking sounds? If it clicks, its the valves that need adjustment, if it knocks, it means the motor could have overheated and the cylinders started to knock. Makes sure you don't burn excessive oil or lose coolant!
