Hey guys, I've been working on my 98 CL 3.0 for two days now and have not made much progress. It all started when my serpentine belt broke, I noticed my alternator was harder to turn than it should be so I replaced it with a remfd unit. After replacing the alternator I have a no crank problem. I've checked voltages at every fuse and relay in the vehicle, I have battery voltage at the starter and battery voltage at the S terminal when the key is in the start position, which leads me to believe the ignition switch is ok. Starter bench tests fine, works everytime. I tried to scan codes with the Snap-On Modis I've got and it will not communicate with any module in the vehicle. Also, with the key on, the speedo will shoot up to 80-120 mph and jump around if you play with the gas pedal, while it's doing this it is clocking miles on my trip and odometer. If anyone has a suggestion please shoot them my way, I'm stumped.

 

This is just a guess, but a computer problem could be an issue if it won't communicate with your Snap on modis. I am sure that has a lot to do with the car running correctly. Search the forum for computer problems and see what you come up with.
