so i just bought this car about three days ago. im 16 and its my first car. 1997 acura 2.2cl 5 speed. and im having some problems. sometimes, it shifts fine, but other times, i cant seem to get into gear. as if im not pushing in the clutch. and i have to turn off the car, put it in gear, and turn it back on. im really new to manual transmissions and i dont know what to do. it sometimes wont let me get to gear when im going down the street as well. it gives off a weird grinding noise.. what should i do about this? it also has a new slave cylinder in it... not sure if it was put in correctly?

 

thanks for the help guys! but i took it to a shop down the road. took the car for a spin and fixed it with a couple of wrenches in like ten minutes. god that makes me feel better.. turns out the person who installed the slave cylinder had it put in incorrectly. and the clutch was only working at about half capacity. so sometimes itd work sometimes it wouldnt. making the shifts hard and sometimes not work at all... but the best part is he did it for free. so my days been pretty nifty
