3.0 Stalling After Startup
Currently, my '99 3.0CL has aroun 62,000 miles and only a SRI to mod the engine at all. New alternator and battery installed about a month ago. When I was by my friend's house, I parked in his driveway (a hill) and left it there for around 2 hours. When I went to leave, the engine stumbled a few times and kept dying. After 3 tries each time this happened, I kept the engine revving around 3000-4000 RPM and then it kept up. This has happened twice at that location, and then I used the remote start in my driveway (also a hill) and the car stalled. Is there some reason? The car has never been tuned-up since it is supposed to be good till 100k. Could this be some sort of fuel management in the engine? I remember once my mom's '05 Toyota Highlander would not start easily since the engine being on a tilt did not give an accurate reading of what fuel was in the cylinders to start the engine. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's pretty annoying when it does happen. Thanks!

Your throttle plate is sticking. happens to me every once in a while.
You may want to get a tune up anyways. Or at least a check up, cause yes your car may not need service till 100k, but you usually hit that before the car is a decade old.
lol, how do you only drive 6000 miles a year? i hope it gets more than a yearly oil change.

didnt know our spark plugs were rated at 100K, thought that was mostly in newer cars. Anyway, my first thought when you said it gave you a problem on a hill was the fuel pump but dave has a very valid point also

i notice in my car that if i back it into my driveway (downward facing) with the tank almost on E, the car will do the same thing.
next time it happens, try rolling the car to level ground. you might have a clogged fuel strainer (on the pump), weak fuel pump (weak flow rate), or clogged fuel filter.
and that 100k tune up, that goes by time also. 7 yr. / 100,000 miles i believe.

I have a similar problem from time to time. Ill start it up she will sputter like crazy and then even out. I have a recent tune up and all. Only does it randomly one every few months. I figure ill just not worry about until it does it more.
