@@@misfire, stall, problem.
Yo what's up everyone.
I finally decided to put my stubbornness aside and just ask.
Anyway,
I have a 99 3.0 CL with 186k miles. I have put a 75k on it, and have had a handful of problems.
Here is the most recent...
My car started misfiring a bit here and there, no big deal. Then one day it was worse, with the car completely bogged down for a few seconds during acceleration. This switched the CEL on.
Pulled the codes, misfire 1, 2, etc. and random misfire all cyl.
Thought it was bad gas, ran some sea foam through the tank.
No change. So I proceeded to pull my plugs, didn't find anything unusual or revealing. (I had just replaced them 2 years ago.) Ended up finding a small vacuum hose that was disconnected, and used a little glue to put that sucker back. Replaced the tranny fluid and did an oil change for good measure, car ran wonderfully for about two weeks from that point on...
Then the misfires started again, but much more frequently. Almost every time I was accelerating @ about 2,500 rpm, the car would bog down. CEL would flash, then become solid, etc.
Noting that the car only did this when warmed up, I decided to go pick up a new ignition coil. On my way home from the store the car started bucking and jerking. As I was accelerating, the rpms would be going up, but the car would not move, then the rpms would shoot down to 0, and if I fluttered the throttle, I could keep the car from stalling.
This was almost guaranteed to happen when I was accelerating from a stop, leaving me for a few uncomfortable seconds in the middle of a few intersections. lol
I got the car home and put the new coil on, I reset the PCM, took a test drive, and it still was happening. I also tested the resistance of the old and new coils, there was no difference.
So here I am today, asking for help. I have a few ideas, but have run out of time because spring break just ended.
Here are the possibilities I have found:
1. ERG clog
2. MAP sensor
3. Injectors?
4. TPS
5. main fuel relay
Please help narrow these down with me.
For reference, the following work has been done on the car.
transmission replaced 4 years ago
alternator, starter replaced 3 years ago
fuel filter, battery, radiator, plugs, and wires were replaced 2 years ago
thermostat + CTS replaced 8 months ago
rotor and cap replaced 3 months ago
