Think of getting a 2.5CL..(permit only!!)

well, i hopefully be getting a car soon. at first, i wanted the 98-99 maxima. it was really fast, but the reliability was a little worse than honda. Im still thinking of getting a max.

BUt then yesterday at autotrader.com i saw a cl 2.5, black loaded for 13K with only 35K miles! i thought it was a great deal. it looked luxurious, and it was also a 5 speed. BUt, everyone says they are really slow. Can anyone give me reasons to look into this car?

I am surely going to mod it, but i dont think for performance since its too slow, but i would 17" rims, clears, and drop it.

thanks a lot guy for all ur help

there is no 2.5 liter engine
2.2 and 3.0 in 97
2.3 and 3.0 98 until 2nd gen came out
so if it's a 99 then it's a 2.3 liter sohc

it's NOT the fastest car in the world, but it is one of the fastest 4 bangers i've driven.... stay away from the auto if you get the 2.3 -
with the manual you can have a lot more fun
i drive my car hard as shit all the time and it's a tank, but i also am obsessive with oil changes and all, so i drive it hard but also take care of it
all things considered: best car i've owned

I own a 99 2.3 5-speed and sorry to say, it's not fast by any means. i'd say it's very average and it struggles sometimes too. It's good for normal driving but if you want performance, ummm, look somewhere else. (I previously owned an Eclipse GSX and also have a 97 Prelude, those are pretty quick 4 cylinders)

they should have put the h22 in the 1st gens instead of the f22 i have to agree short of nitrous or turbo it just aint going to be fast (fast to me is 14's and under) but my 2.3 has never given me any problems but an o2 sensor good car but no sports car

its not a very fast car but still decent. its a real nice car, luxurywise, and the speed insn;t bad. i've taken on 97accords, integras, celicas, old eclipse, with a 99 2.3 auto, so the speed isn;t that bad. but other 4s suchs as preludes, s2000 and all those others sports cars has your ass. i raced my brother's TT and he kicked my ass like nothing, fucking turbo, if i turbo my shit, he's fucking dust.

My Car is Decent

I had a 1996 Civic EX that had Exhaust, Headers and Intake....to tell you the truth that civic could keep up with my CL....so apprentally the CL isn't that fast..especially if you drivin it with a Auto....to get it quick...u gotta drop a intake headers and what not....but jus stock....its just a regular ol' crusin car....pretty much up there with the new Accord EX, Infiniti G20 and Older Alitmas.

my 5spd. 2.3 with just CAI can beat my friends '00 Si with i/e
no prob
the 3.0 stock would beat an EX OR Si with i/e/h-- easily
the cl isnt a racing car but faster than a slow-ass civic with the OEM motor
where u at in d-town?

i guess your right

i jus always think that my CL is just another 1994-1997 Accord Vtec EX.... when i had my civic i raced a 1995 accord ex, and i beat it pretty bad, so thats why i said my car and my ol civic could be neck and neck.

Sorry, a 5 speed 2.3CL would not beat a Civic Si as long as they both have equally skilled drivers. Not a chance in hell.

damn straight. i used to get the jump on my friends 00 si w/ i/e. i had i/e/h/p and after 60 he just put car lengths between us. DOHC kills on top end. his si is a rice rocket. chirps all the way into 3rd.

If you bought the CL looking for a fast car you did not do your homework ahead of time. Most of the people here bought the car because we wanted a little more luxury in our ride. At least I did.
