Yea every thing was custom made/put together by me. I bought most of the parts off ebay and got most of my information on how to do it and software from mp3car.com

Buy a data cable for your phone and find the modem driver for it (might come with the cable), or if you have a bluetooth phone you can get an adapter for the computer. Then you can use it by setting the internet connection to dial #777 make your username XXXXXXXXXX@vzw3g.com (x's are your phone number) and the password is vzw
I get about twice the speed of dial-up, and it just uses your regular minutes no other fees.

Thanks! I'd say about $1200 for the carputer all together. It might be a little less to do now because prices have come down a bit since I put it together.

Thanks for all your compliments!

I like it quite a bit, if you want it to be insanely loud put it in a vented box, otherwise sealed produces quieter but more acurate sound (I've had it in both). The stitching is starting to come loose on mine so it creates a rattling sound, but I dont hear it inside the car, only when I open the trunk so I'm not bothered by it too much. I have had a couple friends that have had the same problem with them too.

I have verizon so that is why I know about it. I know nothing about cingular but doing a quick search it looks like you will have to pay $20 a month for internet access. Here is a link to a discussion on it: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=67126

That looks so nice. You should start a business and charge people to put that setup in for 'em.

This software was designed for pc's, the firmware that your alpine comes with is designed for that specific hardware. So unfortunatley the answer is no.

Very nice setup. I'm using RoadRunner as well and IG for my navi. Have you tried the skins they have. Right now i'm using the LSX skin, which is pretty nice.

No actually I haven't really messed with changing the skins because I am so happy with the current one, but I will look into it. I have however tried other front ends and I like RR the best by far, and they update and add on to it like every couple days which is really nice. What kind of screen are you using?

Thanks! It is a touchscreen so I dont need a mouse, and I keep a mini keyboard that is about the size of a credit card in my arm rest if I ever need to type anything, and a full size keyboard in my trunk just in case. But 99% of the time I never need to type anything.

I got the software from mp3car.com, it is called RoadRunner. Yes the sound is going from the computer through the clarus amps to my infinity speakers, I have no head unit. If you look on the second pic to the right of the shifter you can see the volume control where the cig lighter normally is, I dont use it very often because it is just as easy to touch the screen to change the volume. I dont listen to terrestrial radio, I used to have a USB FM/AM device but the sound quality was shitty because its not made for the car environment. Currently there is not a real car solution to listen to FM/AM, most people that want to get the D-Link usb radio and ignore the static. I am more than happy with Sirius as a replacement
