What to do next? Rebirth.

Okay, it's been about a couple of long months without my cl or any car.

I'm about to get my Transmission rebuilt and I would like to know what I should do to keep it from not crapping out? BTW, It's going to be a 1 year warranty or 120,000 miles whichever comes first.

This is what I'm thinking:
1. Transmission cooler (I don't know which one to get though)
2. After breaking it in I should probably get a better trans fluid. (Don't know which one. My friend works in an auto repair and said to keep the Honda ATF. This sounds right but if it crapped out on me on that I think I should find something better. Redline? Not sure but I've read it on here)

Any suggestions to what I should do?

Definitely stick with Honda ATF, the old formula not the new type. For a transmission cooler, get a hayden

Thats a hell of a warranty, are you sure its not 12,000 miles instead? I don't see anyone ever putting 120,000 miles on anything in a year unless its a plane

LOL, yeah the guy said 120,000 mile or 1 year. I guess if I drove 24 hours straight for a year it could be possible.

heck that's more than allot of people on this board have on their Cl now and theirs are 12-14 years old. They should just say a years warranty because that other number doesn't ever come into play I am sure

When you say the new type, do you mean the ATF-DW1, cause thats what I got from the Acura tech at the dealership, he said it was better then the ATF-z1 and that it was the upgraded version or whatever, but when I look on the back of the bottle it says its for newer cars. My 97 Cl is at 130,000 so I dont know if I should use it or not.

I was told by my best friend who owns a newer TL and is a mechanic, that the older cars should stick with the old formula. Not sure why the dealership sold you the "better" stuff, but I would call the service dept and make sure if I were you
