Took it to the mechanic, he had to drill out the bolts and replace the assembly. The bill came out to be 160 bucks to replace the back shocks

i redid my suspension..4 days ago

thers something they sell at an autoparts store..called pb blaster..its up to u if u wanna try it ..i sprayed my bolts twice a day..for 3 days before i went to try it..came out with a little force.. same for the front..make sure u take ur time with the pinch bolt on the front fork..i had to "fork" out 110 bux from the dealership because i broke the head off the bolt ..didnt even get it a little out so there wuz no chance in drilling it out..i would recommend changing the pinch bolts for the front...depending on what kind of struts u got.i got minez from autozone..thers a tool u mite need to hold the rod from spinning when you're tightening the bolt that holds on the mount to the assembly..i used vices but stripped the hell out of the rod..

From: FL,
I followed these steps and more but i had a problem and couldnt finish the spring instillation.
When I got the srut and old spings out i coulnt even budge the 1 bolt that was holding it all togther.

Is it just really tight or do i need a special tool or something?

help would be grately appreciated

It's probably just rusted, spray some penetrating lube on it, and make sure it's secure before breaking the nut loose

the last time I was messing around with my cars springs, I didn't have a spring compressor. We used 2 ratcheting straps one on each side. granted, I wasn't lowering I was lifting so the springs were huge. I honestly thought I might die. I don't recommend it at all haha.

my main problem has been trying to get the lug nuts off of the back wheels. the damn thing won't come off. I've sprayed it with everything I can think of, I've tried using the weight of the car and a tierod. The thing is rounded off even for the next size down. Does anyone know where I can buy a breaking bolt to get that off? I know that like les schwab or the like have something like it that they hammer on to break it loose but can you buy that somewhere? I don't want to pay $5 bucks a lugnut when I have to do both back wheels.. plus its becoming a theme with most of my vehicles. Must be where I live or something

Alright so i did the swap ( agx's + neuspeed springs). took me a day and a half.

startedon rears, snapped the bolt head off ( after spraying with PB for a few nights) witht he breaker bar. cut out the shock. melted the rubber with a torch. the cut the bushing with a sawzall.

next problem.. how do i get the new bushing in. i bought it before in case this happened. no way it was fitting without a press. no way i was taking anything out and to the shop.

so i started dremeling the bushing until t just barely fit. torched the control arm and hammered it in.

other side i did like an hour and half lol

did the fronts the nex day. easy stuff, took maybe 3-4 hrs.

tips: buy extra parts before you start. air tools are useless, unless you have something that fits tight spaces. use caution with breaker bar. if those lower bolts arent coming out and you dont have the knowhow or tools stop there , take it to the shop. the rears are tricky to put in, get a partner to help. the front pinch bolts are easier to undo with the shock in the car and the fork still bolted in.

Gluck to all ... it can be a tough job but with the right tools... easy pie, and results are well worth it

Take a look at my Avatar. That is the back lower bolt cut for removal. Then I had to borrow a press to get the bushings out. That's the way it is in the Midwest rust belt.

Yep! Looks very familiar. I did mine three years ago, and now I need to go back into the fronts to replace the springs. Both front Eibach springs broke. Eibach just sent me two replacements free of charge, but I hate doing the spring compressor routine. Just glad it wasn't the back ones!

Hahaha, Damn bushings. On my left side, everything was like butter, no problem...

Right now the car is still sitting on jack stands.. because the rear lower bolt got seized in the bushing and turned on itself, ripping the bushing and actually pushing that tab with the welded nut outwards... It was too late when i realized what i was doing. Now im trying to cut the bolt off, to take the thing out. And find a way to put in the new bushing, SOB

getting the bushing in can be a nightmare, its meant to be put in with a press and the hole heated up big time with a torch. i ground mine down lil by little with a dremel and fine sand paper wheel. until it just barely fit .. then hammered it in.

i am actually considereing filling around the sleeve with some solder / lead to ensure a tight fit

Took my rear struts out today. ?????? Do you have to compress the spring to get it off the rears, or are they not that compressed? Am considering bringing it to a shop and having the swap the springs and bushings over to the new strut.
