optima yellow!?!?!.haha

okay before you get to flamin cause i didnt search LEMME SAY THAT I DID...

so after several months of bein lazy, playin LoL and other various games, going on vacations, etc etc i FINALLY put in my 160amp alternator along with the big 3 upgrade yesterday. damn it took for EVER might i add. but it was easy enough with the help of my cousin. we put everything back together and BAM...find out i need a new battery hahaha. so naturally since i did all this work and upgraded the wiring, figured id get a new battery....and of course im going down the optima route..

now before you start typing and say "mark theres 3 pages of threads on this"...well there is. BUT..i didnt really see one that gave me a straight answer...so my obvious question is.........

what model optima yellow top will fit the 99 3.0 first gens. i know some of you are runnin em. id like to go with optima yellow. i know that optima red is just as good but my cousin has a yellow in his car and he swears its better than life itself. i thank you in advance...

as of late, the Optima branded batteries dont do that well.
they changed production or was bought out, leading to poor products.

one of the best batteries out right now is the Sears Platinum diehard series.
they are made by Johnson Controls.

another battery made by Johnson Controls is the Costco branded batteries.

These two batteries ARE WAAAAY better than the Optima "colored" tops

Optima the brand underwent a new leadership or changed production.
so, yes, all of their batteries are the suck now.

well what i have in my car right now is a duralast. if not an optima i was probably gonna try to go with one of those again. i figured since i did the big three id get a battery that was made specifically for heavy load (my system takes a lot of resource. ). i was thinking maybe xs or kinetic (i think that was the brand name). you think its necessary to go with these kinds of batteries? they are pricey as hell but seem to be made specifically for heavy resource usage

you gotta find out who makes the batteries.

Johnson controls is one of the leading manufactures of auto batteries.
The Diehard and costco batteries are both made by Johnson Controls.

Thank you for the info. Gonna do a bit more research in that case. Just wanna make sure i get something thatll be optimal for the setup i have. Ive actually heard a lot of good things with xs batts. And im also toying around with the thought of a dual battery setup. Im getting air in the next few months and i know im going to need batteries lol. Want to make sure i make the right choice.

Oh and terribly sorry to the moderator of this section lol i found the thread that stated the model number of the correct optima yellow top.

awesome, way to take my suggestions.

im telling you, EVERY one who needs power, is moving away from Optima's because of their poor performance.

i just need to be able to make sure i get something quality and for my setup..id rather just spend the money now (actually with all this money im spending i REALLY should get a new car hahaha...) rather than skimp out. im planning to run dual battery and ive read that its better to get two identical. and yellow tops run like 250 a piece. im gonna look into the platinum diehards you were talking about.
