Easy weight reduction on the CL

Here is my mild weight reduction list for my 3.0 CL

Just posting it up if anyone wants to do some mild weight reductions easily on their CL.

126 lbs

FRONT: -33 lbs
empty windshield washer reservoir: 5 lbs
braille battery replacement with custom mount: 21 lbs
glove compartment plate: 2 lbs
air intake resonator: 5 lbs

MIDDLE: -6 lbs
floor mats: 6 lbs

BACK: -87 lbs
Rear tow attachments to chassis: 2 lbs
Spare tire: 30 lbs
misc tools/junk: 2 lbs
undercarpet spare tire well supports: 6 lbs
reduced gas tank fill (9-10 gallons less than full): 55 lbs
Added spoiler: +8 lbs

Can't find anything else reasonable to take out, anyone have any ideas?
(I don't want to start replacing all the body panels with carbon fiber--it looks ugly)

I'm thinking lightweight wheels at some point
this is addicting

i wouldn't take out the floor mats unless u want brown carpet...and the spare wheel? no way i just got a flat lol if i didn't have the spare tire i'd be screwed. pretty interesting ideas though.

Maybe pull out some of the insulation/carpet in the trunk? Would probably lose you a few pounds.

ehh floor carpet can always be shampooed

thinking of getting a cheap 2lb air pump to fill and a can of fix a flat to replace the spare
of course if i ever went for a trip i'd put the spare back in

I could def lose some carpet in the trunk but i estimate no more than 4lbs for all of it. Plus i want to take more weight off the front before i do anything else in the back to keep the weight ratio about the same

lose some weight! ahaha j/k

lightweight wheels would be the way to go. faster acceleration plus less weight on all corners. and itll look better. win on all parts

Easy weight reduction? Ditch the girlfriend.

You could ditch your sun visors, trunk plastics / carpet.

Ditching the girlfriend is a bit drastic, plus she actually uses the sun visors

I actually took out the wooden/paper panelling things from under the carpet in the trunk, it was the bulk of the weight and keeps the trunk interior still looking nice and stock.

Pull the rear seats and brace behind them? I did it the other day for audio purposes, and there's probably 20 or so lbs there total... Hell, there's about 5 lbs worth of 10mm bolts holding the rear seat brace into the car...

Search around, there was a member back in the day that posted up weight reduction ideas and actually cut all the insulation out of the floor to loose weight as well. Taking out the floor mats for weight reduction is a bit silly if u ask me though...

This whole thing's a bit silly if you ask me... I mean our cars weigh what, like 3300lbs stock? Not a whole lot you can do to make it really fast short of Cocoa and his sick CL. Now, I'm probably going to get yelled at by the H22/23 crowd, but you car's still a 4 cylinder dragging around 3300+lbs... Me personally, I know my CL will never be fast, so I keep adding stereo goodies to it...

I think curb weight is around 3200.
Almost everything removed individually may seem silly but it's all stuff I don't need and it adds up.
So a 3200lb car with a V6, I don't use it for track racing or anything but its nice to be able to pick up speed from stoplights with less weight on the pedal.
I've dug around all the forums out there even outside of azine I don't think theres a whole lot more that can be taken off without any ill effects.
A full interior with climate control is a lot nicer than the same car with an ugly metal interior in the back and no A/C to save maybe 80 lbs.

Wow removing airbags is hardcore. I wouldn't even do that if my care was solely a track car. Cost vs. benefit is way too high .00001 seconds faster vs. vastly increased chance injury/death.

Man some of you guys are extreme on weight saving for a non-track car lol. I removed my spare (that's what AAA is for) and used that space for my amp.

As for off the line speed, that's what performance mods are for IMO. But this is coming from a guy who still hasn't even hit the redline because I'm thinking she's pretty fast without redline lol

Fill your tires with helium. Fill your cabin with helium balloons. Tie helium balloons all over your car. Put stickers on your car that say helium. Get a license plate that says helium. Say "helium" when you're driving your car. Let's try it right now, together. Helium.
Feel lighter, don't you? Helium.
