Circled in red is where the bolt goes, circled in green is where the bracket goes.

so that box isn't a big deal then? I just installed my intake yesterday and reset my battery and everything after i took out that sensor and my check engine light stays on.

is that normal for some aftermarket intakes?

no its a Weapon-R

and in that picture you posted with the bracket, the sensor isn't anywhere in sight...

The sensor has like a valve in it that connects directly to the stock air intake set up
so i don't see how i could have even attempted to keep it with my weapon-r

did you ever resolve this problem? you can some what see the sensor in my picture although you have to look really hard. if u look at the battery handle you'll see a little white tube. that tube leads to the valve that i have just hanging.

nope.

Nope, I wasn't ever able to resolve the problem, I don't see how it could've been. It worked really well though, minus the check engine light, I actually noticed a difference.

I ended up putting the stock air-box back on cause I had to take the car to my mechanic (he whines his ass off about after-market parts and I really didn't want to hear it), one of my wheel bearings had apparently rotted out and some other shit, and my tire was about to fall off... fucking MA potholes and old age. Anyways took out the intake and now I'm putting the 2-ton bitch up for sale and getting a WRX. (Thank god.)

The Ac is atrocious in this new england winter, the AWD is more suitable and whatnot, so come onn subaru! Not to mention, i'm lazy, modding the already turbod car will be easier.

115k and still young. May your next owner be kinder to you than I was.

i just installed my SRI, do i have to remove that box near the wheel well from part number 7, or can i leave that in? I don't feel like taking those plugs out and getting in the wheel well like that if its not necessary...

you need an AEM intake, they're all smog legal. just make sure you have the smog sticker on it. and if you have a 2.2 or 2.3 then get the intake for 94-97 honda accord.

I dont get it man, what did you do with that sensor you "left hanging?" I dont see it in that picture you put up anywhere.

I miss the sound of my intake, but hate that goddamn bright orange light.

ok first we'll start off saying you had 2 nipples on the intake pipe you go, one near the engine head, the other right off the throttle body.
the one in the green arrow is the one near the engine head and connects to the tube as pointed on the pipe on the engine head.

if you have that done, thats great. you probably do and want to focus on the red arrow....some people might not even have it.
but here is a close up of the red arrow that is near the throttle body the blue is where the side of the throttle body is at.

you will be connecting the VALVE ASSY., IN. CONTROL SOLENOID part # 36352-PT2-003 which is the solenoid he is holding in his hands. there will be a little white piece of pipe connector that is also pointed by a red arrow.

once again you see that little white piece that i was pointing to earlier to show that tube connects to the nipple that is near the throttle body.

here is also a diagram of the resonator chamber to help see which tube i am talking about and the sensor i am talking about.

reset your ecu, by pulling out the ecu fuse and the backup radio fuse for 10secs or removing the negative battery terminal and drain any left over power by trying to start the car without the negative terminal plugged in.

after that you should be cel free.

So today I received and installed an ebay SRI into my '99 2.3CL and thanks to this guide it was quite painless. Total install time was only 30 minutes! Have a question about a part I had to disconnect to get the intake to sit properly but I will pose it once it's light outside and I can get a decent photo. Thanks for the great info everyone!

Yeah, thanks for the pictures.
One more thing, about the hose left hanging from the firewall, what should I do with it? I simply put a cap on it to prevent it from sucking up dirt and that kind of shit. I noticed with it plugged up it revs lower and vice versa.

the one that the little white piece of pipe connecter is originally attached to, right off the firewall, behind the throttle body and stuff

Today I installed my SRI but I have a couple of questions. First of all I followed this DIY for the most part, I did steps 1-6 but there wasn't anything like in step 8 and 9 to remove. I just removed the big plastic tube that ran from the throttle body to the air filter. Then when I tried to install the intake this pop can looking thing was in the way so I remounted it so the intake pipe just barely clears it. As can be seen in this pic.

So my question is why dont i have those pieces, and what is that can type thing. Could it be that my car has this can thing rather than the piece in step 9?
And could you guys check to see if I got the hoses hooked up correctly. I just used one really short pice of hose. Thats all I need to do right?

Another thing is that I after I installed this my check engine light didnt come on even though I didnt disconnect the battery. All this stuff has me somewhat puzzled, and your help is greatly appreciated. By the way I've punched it a few times already and it sounds sweet. Only a few more engine mods then ...
And heres a full engine shot for your pleasure

The car in the diy was a 2.2 so that explains the different parts.

I took the can thing completely out when I installed my CAI. No CEL either

What did you do with the small hose that was connected to it? I unattached mine (the cylinder not the hose) from it's original position so that it's resting where the stock airbox was underneath the filter from the new intake. This left more than enough clearance room for the intake.

I just plugged up the open end of the hose and left it be. Haven't had any problems.

about 2 months ago i was on the interstate and i had no choice but to hit a cardboard box and i guess it kicked up and caught the plastic fender well and wedged it against my tire but the time i stopped it had melted most of it a way. so i cut a good portion of it off. but the point here is now i have a big hole were the air box was and im thinking about making a scoop that sits just bellow the bumper and forces air thru a pipe thru that hole next to that battery and to the filtter

does anybody see why or why i shouldn't do this? basically im looking for pros and cons

You could put some mesh stuff in the scoop to prevent some of this. The only other reason that I can think of why you wouldn't want to do it cause if you didn't do it right it could look rice and ghetto.

i had no idea the intake was this much of a sound difference, i love my car all over again!

although $20 ebay intake FTL, putting all that shit back in for smog is gonna suck. Got 6ft of new tubing for it tho.

sorry if i sound very dumb but i just wanna clarify things up before i install my intake tommorow, i don't even know if it is a cold air or Sri because i am hearing lots of different stories about this. my intake is a Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake... hope someone here has one and i read the DYI, so practically i just PULL out everything that is in the Stock intake? like littereally just pull it out except for the filter, that is a screw rite?
Then... there is something about the nipple? i am very confused about that can someone please please clarify that for me? and the wires? i am just suppose to let how many wires hang? please help me out i am very anxious to install this and i don't wanna f up my engine bay... lol THanks in advance.

Everything including the filter box, filter, and tubing, replace with your intake, and hook the vaccuum lines (rubber tubing) up to your new intake

.... dam i don't have the rite tools for this i just finished failing at unscrewing so i can't even install my intake because those two golden bolts that bolts down the filter holder thing won't even come out no matter wtf i use on it and how much power it just sits. so i might just let some mechanic do it.... sad very sad....
