I have a 3.0cl, while it does accelerate ok, I kinda expected more power out of it. Although it is a fairly heavy car...

I have 2 cars actually. I have a 2000 hatchback with a b16a2 in it and my CL 3.0.

You can't compare the acceleration in the CL to my hatch. My hatch murders it in the off the line. While rolling, maybe my CL would hang and even that is a big maybe.

I don't know I feel it's kinda not so quick so I pity the people who bought this car new when it got on the market. I however got it for cheap.

It's a nice car for long trips and such though. Very comfortable.

Another thing I'm disatisfied with the Cl is the cornering...Shit, don't attempt to take corners too fast you'll get pulled out of the curve with a quickness.

Not with my hatch. My hatch hangs on the road so hard, you think it's on rails.

But that again is due to its weight.

But then getting stuck in traffic with the CL is great. Just press on the gas and its all good. Listen to the BOSE stereo and chill in the seats.

i totally understand you...
I have a 89 civic with ZC engine in it.. and at start offs i feel the civic pulls a lot faster.. i think because its lighter and my civic is really low to the ground.. but i know in high speeds.. it doesent compare to how the CL pulls.. around corners.. the civic is ten times better than the CL.. once again i think its because the CL is so heavy and its not low.. an eibach roll kit would fix that.

i think it could be because the 3.0s are sooo damn heavy and its kinda luxury so it doesent seem like your going that fast even though you are. But civics are light and kinda flimsy so it feels faster..

I speed in my 3.0 ALL the time, i go 80-100 on the highway, and it definately doesn't feel like i'm going that fast. However it's harder to accelerate to that, partly because it's a luxury car, and heavy ass hell. That's why I'm moddin up my engine slowly, tryin to get more torque and pickup from low end to high end. Overall though, I'm in love with my car, and love having the v6, all the civic kids hate on my cuz I have a nicer car and motor than them. I even get stared down by lots of kids in teggy's and accords. The 4 banger accord kids can't keep up with me I understand what you're sayin about the pickup not feelin the same, but you're comparing a lite little hatch to a heavy ass v6 luxary, way different ends of the spectrum, luxary takes weight!!!

Eh, the b16a2 engine is a far better engine that what we have by a mile. It's a bulletproof engine.

just change the springs and get a sway bar that will help the handling issue and you are comparing apples to oranges between a B16 hatch and a 3.0 CL...

yep its on prokit, which helped a bit on the cornering... the lower the center of gravity the better ...

i've grown to love quiet cars.. i cant stand hearing the wind/tires/muffler while driving on the highway.. in my civic, the winds so loud it sounds like the cars made of tin.. and my engine and exhaust overpowers my music sometimes.. i feel like a ricer

hows the winter with the prokit? is the car too low for that? I might get prokit. Hows the ride, more bouncier?

i dont drive my CL in the winter.. i drive my civic which is a plow..
but the CL's ride is comfortable with prokit.. its slightly more rough.. just slightly.. well it depends on your tires/rims too..

The 3.0 can hold it's own, I can't wait to put my headers and exhaust on, and some new pullies and cams it'll have way more potential then.

I like the acceleration, but there is always room for more.

I've got cams on teh way, then pullies, then throttle body spacer, then thermoblok spacers, then exhaust, then tune, if that all isn't enough for me, i'm not gonna spend $4000 on turbo, I'll just get a 75 shot of nitrous.

That sounds like my list of performance mods, already have the tb spacer and thermoblok, need pullies and exhaust, what kinda cams did you go with?

Not what I would expect, mine being 3.0 V6 and running against my friend who owns a 240sx (S13) which is a 2.4 Inline 4. He beat me at the 1/4. I would catch him by the time we hit the end.....Like he would take of faster but I would soon catch up. Mine also being automatic and his manual....

I got some CL-S cams from cocao. Haven't arrived yet. They are gettting machined now. Gonna have them installed at the same time as pullies, TB/thermoblok spacers, and exhaust then tune with VAFC2 all at once, so I can feel the difference in the butt dyno, instead of doing a little bit at a time, and not noticing the difference.

The speed isn't really an issue for me, but having said that the 3.0 could be a little quicker. Like others I appreciate the car for the luxury aspects rather than the raw speed. Most of my driving is done during rush hour traffic so power is pretty much useless.

I get almost 400 MPG per tank, you just need to use good oil, and good high octane gas, I use 93, and get about 100 extra miles per tank, because I do so much highway driving. Also, I guess I'm happy with my 3.0's speed, it's definately a slow bitch, but if platano can do 130 in his 2.2, and I could still dog him with my 3.0, then i'm happy

pull out all your seats in the 3.0.. and strip the car of all the luxuries.. (examples:AC, Heated Mirrors, Spare Tire, ALL SEATS excluding drivers seat, carpet, noise reducing reinforcments..) and it will handle just like the civic.. i believe our cars weigh about.. 3,600 pounds.. and probably the civic weighs around 2,500... not really sure.. might even be less. haha

but.. if u consider every 100 pounds as 10HP to the crank.. then.. the civic will have no problem wasting the CL..

if u take off 600 pounds on the 3.0.. your looking at about 260HP to the crank.. and maybe about 220 to the wheels..

but.. then again.. who cares.. our trannies will probably blow up

Ok. everyone's been talking about power and all that, but i think my CL handles like crap on turns and higher speeds..like when i'm turning (big turns) on the freeway over 75 or 80.. the car sways away a lot.. and don't even mention street corners.. i have to go 15mph or less to not have the wheels screech..

How can i improve on the handling.. i know lowering, stiffer springs, strut bars will help.. how about tire pressure or what kind of tires? (i am runninng of stock)..

You answered your own question.... Lowering, springs, new shocks, strut bars, sway bars. Tire pressure is located in your door jam, I usually go to about 35

im happy with prescious.. like said before she holds her own. ive raced and beat 240's with basic bolt ons, most b16 civics, def mustang v6's especially the new ones (they are dogs). in fact i just raced my homeboy who has a 2000 mustang gt convertable, i/h/e, 3.73's in the back. i beat him off the line by bout 1.5 cars then by 80 he catches up and by 100 he was bout 1 car ahead of me. not braggin bout losin, but im pushin 18" meat slingers (rims) and i hung in with my hommie till the ol "no replacment for displacment" statment came in.

Stock tires blow balls, horribly. I got some yokohoma avid V4's and my handle a bit better, then I got D2 coilovers and i freakin love it. I dunno if I could ever go back to stock. I used to get nauseus from all the body roll on the stock springs.

:BS: i/h/e 3.73's is good for high 13's atleast if you beat a GT off the line he was either kidding or hes driving stick shift with an amputated foot.

i didnt say i won.. i did say i lost. i dont care why i got him off the line but he caught up from 1.5 cars back and gained 1 whole car on me.. do the math, and he's a convertable, they are almost 1000lbs heavier than a normal gt. and he will not get close to a 13 sec pull with just those mods. i got another friend who has a 02 gt (30 more hp than the 00) same mods (different brands and 4.11's) and he barley got into the 13's with nitto drags on. another thing i aint bone ass stock eather.. i/h/e/p/and test pipe. so go on and put you little flag away, and color.

The 3.0 is aight, but I'm getting pretty bored of it. About the only thing I like is chillin in traffic with my auto. Other than that, I need more power and a manual tranny.

Next car: EVO

Quick Reply: Are you guys satisfied with the speed in the 3.0Cl?
